How does dating or having a significant other impact your finances?

Im trying to get out of debt and anything left over goes to the credit cards. This is one reason Im glad Im single!!!

I went to a movie in L.A w/friends and the ticket was $14. Thats gas for 1/2 a week. and seriously, I will not be doing that again.

one of the good things about my last relationship was that I didn't have to pay for everything. at first yea, I paid for meals and all that but as we got into a real relationship, we both paid for stuff. I always told her she didn't have to pay for dinners, or whatever, but she did, and it made it a bit easier.

but now I am single and trying as well to get out of debt.

Learning2live4God,

Congrats on trying to get out of debt.

I don't expect to pay for 1st dates (Im female) but I tend to go out more and do more stuff if Im seeing someone...and thats where spending more money on leisure and looking good (or better) comes in.

Havent dated in years, I was just wondering as I pray to meet hubby, how its going to affect my current priority which is getting out of credit card debt.

well yes. recreational expenses should be kept to a minimum when actively trying to get out of debt however some should still be allocated to that or a more general blow money category that could be spent on anything. i think it depends how you are dating. if you are doing meet and greets with people that you found online, it's typical to be doing something quick any not pricey like coffee. if you're meeting new people, there is no reason, why you can't wear one of a couple different outfits instead of shopping new each time. there are lots of cheap date ideas, don't get discouraged. i think the important thing is make a cash flow plan (ie, budget) and stick with it. allocate yourself money for dates, clothes, makeup and follow it.
