After being downtown earlier this week and seeing such a long line for the ladies room, but such a short one for the men's room, I propose that there be 2 women's room's for every man's! Now granted this would be a disadvantage for me, but still. At least it beats co-ed restroom's which never caught on at all. Vote and tell what you think!

I haven't noticed a disparity--I think things are fine the way they are.

Now Lisa, you obviously haven't been to a major city such as Boston during tourist season.

I've been to Boston in the fall (unlike the Pirates who don't do anything) but it has been many years. I don't remember what the lines to the bathroom were like. I do remember in D.C. there being long lines to both the men's and women's restrooms when I was a teenager. Everywhere else I've been, I've never noticed a disparity. Doesn't mean there isn't one, I'm not the most observant person in the world, but I would think that if there are more women out there who need to go than there are men, the better solution would be more stalls, not another restroom.

Try going to a concert! Unless you leave your seat before intermission begins you can forget getting through the women's washroom before intermission is over. It's insane. And Mike, very observant of you. I don't know that many men would notice the problems we women have with not enough washroom stalls!

I have seen the lines. There are some groups saying that 2:1 is the right ratio. Women certainly can take longer on average than men. I voted yes, but think a good study should be done to see if it is the right amount, and not 3:2 or 3:1 or some other ratio.

Just out of curiosity, Mike, why would you think this would be a disadvantage to either you or men in general? It wouldn't affect y'all's bathroom lines either way.

I like the idea.

Hi Sharon-Marie:

Becausee the more women's bathrooms then the less men's bathroom's that would be built in relation.

I've been to many a concert where there were as many women in the Men's room as there were men. A bit disconcerting at first, but I'm adaptable.

Yeah, they probably would convert or just close a quarter to a third of existing men's rooms rather than upping the number of women's restrooms.

Doubling the number of ladies' restrooms is a benefit both to them and to me. They would cut down on MY waiting time when I'm someplace waiting on my sweety or someone else in a group when it's time to leave.

The lines are always double, or more, for the wait to the ladies rooms. I have been tempted to use the mens room many times. I can't bring myself to really do this tho. But I do know my husband ALWAYS has to wait for me because I am still waiting in the line.

This is the very logic I was using.

(and therefore, Jimbo's post is brilliant).

*sigh*

I'll admit...I've used the men's restroom. BUT....

I was pregnant AND I had look outs in case any men decided to wonder in. It was no big deal to me, but I didn't want to saunter out of a stall while someone was at a urinal.

I've used the men's restroom but I thought it was the women's until I asked someone to hand me some tissue and received a shocked silence followed by a male voice.

I avoid public restrooms like the plague. In fact, I'm sure they contain the plague! Unless it's a dire emergency, I won't use one, so the long lines seldom effect me. The only times I've personally waited a bit in lines for the restroom were at airports. But, they move quickly, so I never noticed it as being a problem for me. The only other place I use public restrooms(as a rule) are on campus and they never have lines.

LOLOLOL!!!! I'm sorry! I'm sure that was horribly embarrassing, but too funny!

Reminds me of the time I went to change Thing 2's diaper. I was singing and cooing to him. Suddenly I heard a low, deep, AHEM. I gasped, grabbed Thing 2, nekkid and all, and darted out, running to the women's bathroom.

My friends waiting for me were laughing so hard they didn't stop the entire time we were in the store.

It's always fun to laugh AFTER something like that is over. I'm glad I had no friends with me at the time to laugh at me. Mind you, if I'd been with a friend, maybe she would have saved me from making that mistake. And why didn't YOUR friends stop you, Tinkerbell?

I honestly don't think they noticed either. We were at a Super Wal-Mart and ours at home the women's restrooms were on the left and the men's on the right. So I went to the left. Apparently the architect of this particular Wal-Mart was dyslexic.

Yep! It's all the architect's fault!
