Do you have a story to share concerning Romans 8:28?

Here is mine:

About 5 years ago, hubby and I had not long moved into our new property (at that time). It was in the middle of winter and it was really cold.

Just before I went to sleep this particular night, I remembered I had left the emersion heater switched on and so got up out of bed and proceeded to run down stairs to switch it off. I had bed socks on my feet (lovely) because it was cold and the stairs were polished wood!!! Yes - you've guessed, I slipped and bumped my bottom on the stairs. It was a hard bump too and it really, really hurt. Hubby was amused and this made me annoyed but I won't go into that here! Anyway, within a few days, I had a large bruise on my bottom! It took a few weeks for the bruise to go away.

About a month or so later, I started to get this weird sensation in my side. I went to my doctor and was examined but she could find nothing wrong. A few more months past and this sensation kept returning and was getting worse and by this time my legs were aching also. I went back to my doctor and this time she agreed to send me for a scan.

When the day for my scan came, I went along by myself and was shocked by what I heard. The medical staff looked bewildered and I heard them talking quietly between themselves and mention the 'C' word. I became upset and they tried to re-assure me. Later I handed the situation over to God. Within a few days I was back speaking to a Specialist who said that they did not know if the cyst they found on my left ovary was cancerous or not. To cut a long story short, I had to have an operation to remove it and have tests done.

During exploratory, surgeon's removed my left ovary and thankfully it turned out that it was not cancer but I was told that if I did not have this cyst removed, because of it's unusual long shape and size, it may well have twisted on itself at any time and I would only have minimal time to be operated on to save my life!

Since, I have been told that it was quite likely that the bump I had on the stairs triggered things and alerted us to the cyst. In other words, my slipping on the staircase could have saved my life!

'All things do work together for good' (Romans 8:28) - in this case even a bump on the stairs!

Ok I'll share my version of Romans 8:28 and is my favorite verse.

I had gone through a terrible divorce in 95 and in 96 it had not stopped, however the turns of events were devistiting. (My work was looking for partnership, my ex was creating terrible havoc, Irs was trying to garnish my wages and two women were attacking my faith,so much more went on but I lost everything I owned.)

I could not see any good that was for sure, especially I also had to have surgery on my ovaries, because they had become cystic and believed what I was told when I was 18 y/o. That children was impossible for me. I was in a dark storm and prayed stating I would not let go of the one fact that I knew was true: That God loves me, and held onto that!

I had lived my life as a career person, but even that was gone. I was in such despair that I could not even look at people, which is totally not me.

I had through this time have gone through many trials and had backslidden as I could not see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Eventhough I had read the bible umpteen times and memorized it, to be honest didn't really matter. I decided however to adopt one of Jesus' traits and turn my anger at this point into something good. So for the next 3 years I penned a book and then wrote another one.

I met a nice man during this time and yes I sinned in my state, but the impossible happened! I was pregnant and gave birth to my son 2 years ago.
There was my answer from God and the light in my dark storm.

Had anyone ever told me this was in my future, I would have called them a liar.
But as God gave me grace and a story about Him with my child's birth, my storm is now ending.
But it was that small belief of the mustard seed (a little faith goes a long way) that kept me hanging on to Him that I can truly say Yes to Romans 8:28.
Plus a few other verses as well.

11 years ago this May, this verse was given to me shortly after the death of my dad. Actually, it was Romans 8:28-38.

I remember being on my knees in complete loss for words, and feeling hopeless. I asked my youth pastor, "will I see my dad again?" The fact is, I was thinking more along the lines of ,"Why did God allow this to happen? Why didn't God heal my dad? How can I continue to have hope in Him?"

That verse gave me hope. Hope in Christ, and trust in Christ, and an understanding that I would have never had of trusting God that He's got everything under control, if this incident had this not occurred.

Thank you for saying so. The Lord tells us to encourage one another. I love to share what the Lord has done / is doing in my life and if it helps to build / encourage my brothers and sisters in Christ - then it is worth every minute and I'm sure the others who have shared echo this thought likewise.

Psalm 34

1 I will extol the LORD at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips.
2 My soul will boast in the LORD;
let the afflicted hear and rejoice.

3 Glorify the LORD with me;
let us exalt his name together.

Little1,
(Amen!)
Thank you for sharing Psalm 34.
It is the verse that has actually been on my heart (as a song actually!)
for the past week. I was wondering where it is in the Bible! Thank you for finding it for me!

Now I would like to also testify to the most recent event of standing on the promise of Romans 8:28
The other day my Husband was acting much out of character. I asked him what was bothering him? He was very stressed over not getting an order that he worked so hard on. Another Company got the job.
He became very negative...
So I said, "Well, maybe the other Company needed the order more than we did..." He seemed mad, and said something like; "Oh you don't understand..."
I asked him if he remembered the verse that is hung up by the kitchen window? He said he couldn't remember the verse. I said it is Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."And it is true! (He was still angry...)
I told him to remember what God has brought us through in the past, He is faithful. Then I went upstairs to read my Bible. Suddenly my heart began to stir. Soon I found such excitement in my heart, I could not read anymore! I began to pray! I began to praise the Lord! My heart felt like it would explode! I ran back downstairs to ask my Husband if he would pray with me about our Business.
He said he was to busy and and too upset, and didn't want to pray right now. I said; "It will only take about 30 seconds of your time. Please hold my hands and pray with me!" So he did, but I could tell he could not wait to throw off my hands as soon as we were done. I said something like;
"O Lord, we know that Your Word says that all things work together for good to them that love You and are the called according to Your purpose.
And Lord, we know that (Husband) worked hard to get this order, and yet another company got the order. Our hope and our trust is in You Lord.
And Lord we know that You have enough business out there for both of us! Thank You Lord! And now we pray for our all of our Customers, and the one that got the order..."
Then sure enough, he threw my hands off, and said he had to get back to work. I ran back upstairs, and began to read my Bible again... And the excitement in my heart grew and grew... Then I heard the Fax Machine ring... And I waited with excitement... Then my Husband walked into my room and said, "You aren't going to believe this! The Company that we just got done praying for, they just sent us a Fax with a 2 Page order that is HUGE!!!!!!! We weren't even done praying for 90 seconds, and here is a Fantastic order! THANK GOD!" Then he said something like;
"Boy, I have to get into God more, and learn how to pray more!"
(PRAISE THE LORD!)

What a wonderful testimony concerning Romans 8:28. To God be the glory Ignited-Faith - Hallelujah Jesus.

The Lord knew your husband was upset about the first order but what a shame hubby did not get the same blessing as you did by believing and trusting God all along.

Sometimes God still blesses us despite our lack of faith because He still loves us but we miss out on the absolute blessing of quietly trusting Him which is by far better than the answer when God comes through for us. I'm sure hubby has learnt a valuable lesson from this. It is a spiritual lesson to all who read your testimony.

Romans 8:28 is very much evident in this testimony and I'm sure everyone reading it will praise God along with you both. I know I for one am.

I read this yesterday:

Psalm 34:10

10 The young lions lack and suffer hunger;
But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing.
