quote:
At 18, the college freshman got a blue and purple mushroom tattooed on her lower back, just above her butt - a common tattoo location that Philly cops jokingly refer to as a "tramp stamp." Yes, a mushroom, as in fungus. Valentine said the choice had nothing to do with so-called "Magic Mushrooms," the psychedelic drug popular on college campuses in the 1990s. "Mushrooms are my favorite pizza topping," she said. I don't know which makes her look more stupid - getting a pizza topping tattooed on her back or her thinking that we'd actually believe that excuse. But at least we got to see "tramp stamp" used in the newspaper. -Dan.

I remember being in my 20s when the mid '90s tattoo phase was in full swing. I wanted a tattoo of Yakko Warner something fierce. I didn't do it though because I realized that one day I would want it off. Now hardly anyone remembers or knows who Animaniacs are anyway. I have no regrets and for a few years not getting any tattoos may have been the only positive thing I did with a look to the future, lol.

The once rebellious teen who got a butterfly tattooed on her shoulder is now a 20-something woman who wants to wear a strapless dress at her country-club wedding. I have a red maple leaf tattoed on my shoulder. My stepfather always said he would stand at attention and sing the national anthem as I walked down the aisle. My dress ended up covering the tattoo! quote:
And the reformed neo-Nazi with the swastika tattoo who just met a nice Jewish girl and is joining her folks for Passover dinner. Interestingly enough, I met someone who has a swastika tattooed on the back of his head, something he had down in his white supremacist days. He now attends a predominantly black church, and is saved by the blood of Jesus Christ. I believe he keeps his tattoo as a symbol of who he was and who he is now in Jesus (and also because he can grow his hair over it).

The moral is, surely, if you are going to change your mind about a tattoo, don't get it in the first place! It does take careful planning.

I am a 34y/o father of 4 and work in a very professional office meeting with attorneys and bankers and the like pretty much all of the time. I want to get a tat of my kids names under the Chinese symbol for father on the back of my neck just below the collar. I haven't yet done so because otherwise, frankly I don't like spending the money and I can barely stand anyone touching my back with their fingers much less with any sort of needle. I don't mind tats, I know several Christian men and woman with tats, very devouted to their faith in Christ and I don't think God has much concern about the ink on their ankles, backs, necks and shoulders.

freakofnature: So what does your wife think of your tattoo plans? Does she have one, or consider one maybe? Take care. quote:

Her and I have discussed the issue on a number of occasions and she thought about getting a tat herself, but again, it just isn't something I'm prepared to shell out the $150.00 for. It is a thought, I will probably get it about the same time that my Harley comes in... quote:

My father was in the navy around 1960. I asked him why he never got a tattoo, like so many of the other guys. His answer? "I never got that drunk!"

freakofnature: I see, thnx, so I guess the idea of a tattoo was sth that you and your wife both came to together, not having had one before, either of you? Take care. quote:

tatoos are immoral, both the Old Testament and New Testament forbids getting tatoos, tatooing is part of the pagan and neopagan cultures.

Where are they mentioned in the NT? Also, in Leviticus passage which mentions cutting for the dead also says about men not trimming their beards. I wonder if the context is Old Testament Jews under the law, in the land? quote:
