I hope Tito can pull it out but I don't think so. I think Chuck's power will be to much for Tito. I have to agree. Chuck has power from both hands and can throw power punches from odd postions. If Tito tries to take him down Chuck will be able to hold his own on the mat as well. That's why I don't think Tito will be able to pull it off, but you never know weirder things have happened.

ah, mixed martial arts. the most pure sport on the planet. two men, locked in mortal combat. i love it, and don't miss a fiht. in canada, we have a new channel called the fight network. they show a lot of older k1, pride, bodog fight, tko, and rumble on the rock. as for the december fight, i think that tito will take chuck. i didn't say i like tito, just that he will win this time. 2sn round tko.

I'm almost ashamed to say...I too, like UFC We have some friends who love it as well and we have fight nights on pay-per-view every now and then. In fact, our friends attended the second Tito/Shamrock fight - got their picture taken and everything. They were like lil kids. Anyway...I like the mixed martial arts, but get annoyed when they just hug on one another. I know it's wrestling...and domination and whatever...but it's not nearly as fun to watch.

Actually, the refs tend to break up any excess hugging, and the audiences boo. I doubt any fighter wants to spend his time hugging and holding his opponents arms; it wastes alot of energy, and you don't get points for holding the arms. Chuck Lidell has an incredible defense against the takedown, I know he was collegiate wrestler. Tito is good, but he is not fighting another Ken Shamrock. Jeremy Horn took some tremendous shots from the Iceman for almost four rounds. He had to stop when his vision was affected by the punches.

ORIGINAL: APreciousOne About Matt Hughes being a Christian... Yeah. Someone mentioned that during one of his post-fight interviews he mentioned his faith in God, or something like that. They also showed him and his trainers all praying before his fight against GSP. I think it's way awesome how he openly gives glory to God. I think it is great that he is a Christian as well. You should check out his website in one of his BLOG entries he mentions the book of Esther. He also has Phillipians 4:13 on his opening page. quote:
GSP is still my favorite, though! To be totally honest I was never a GSP fan until his fight with Penn. I thought his post fight interview was great and I gained a lot of respect for him after I heard it. I wanted Hughes to win thier fight, but I am not all that upset that he lost because he lost to GSP. Click here for Hughes's website. quote:
The countdown to Liddell vs Ortiz is killing me!! Is everyone gonna order the fight on PPV? I also can't wait for the fight, but I am still not sure whether I am going to order it.

Yes - his website also contains info about this and how Matt became saved Here is a link Hughes And here is a blurb from his blog after the fight Going into the fight I felt very confident. Even up to the point where I lost, I really felt God was going to have me win that fight, but it wasn't His plan. I always pray that God's will is done before a fight and, as long as that's done, I'm happy and I'll definitely fight again. Even with a loss, I can't be anything but thankful for all that God has done in my life.

I'm hoping to see heavy weights Vera( I think thats his last name) and Silvia fight. Vera has had some exciting finishes and seems to be very solid. I think with his speed and striking ability he may have a chance to take Silvias belt but you never know.

IFL looks interesting, with coaches such as Shamrock, Miletich, Newton, Lindland. We don't get to see to many Pride FC matches on TV I will probably watch the webcast PPV of UFC 66. Leading up to Lidell-Ortiz is Andre Arlovski, Michael Bisping, Chris Leben, Diego Alvez, Forrest Griffin fighting Keith Jardine (IMO, he beat Stephen Bonner). On Wed (Dec 13th, from Miramar)--Diego Sanchez vs Joe "diesel" Riggs! Josh Koscheck, Drew Fickett, Karo Parisyan, Shonie Carter and Marcus Davis will also fight. If Diego wins, he could face GSP next year. Diego's high altitude training gives him an edge (endurance-wise)... George St-Pierre used his Muay Thai clinching skills to beat Matt Hughes. If I remember correctly, Matt was a Div 1A champ in Iowa? I am acquainted with one of the K-1 Strikeforce fighters in Northern Cal, he is a loan officer and former IT professional.

To be honest, Pride is my least favorite b/c of the poor video/audio quality, so I personally don't think you're missing too much. Of course, they do have fighters that you'd rarely see otherwise.

ORIGINAL: chemdude77 If I remember correctly, Matt was a Div 1A champ in Iowa? This is a quick bio of Matt's collegiate wrestling career. quote:
Uncertain of what to do upon graduation, both brothers attended Belleville Area College (BAC) for one year. At the conclusion of their freshman year at BAC, wrestling was cut as a varsity sport and, therefore, the twins found themselves continuing their wrestling careers at Lincoln College. Despite different locations the results were the same as Matt earned All-American status on the junior college circuit at both Belleville and Lincoln. Matt placed 5th in the 158-pound class as a freshman and 3rd in the same class a year later, while brother Mark was earning All-American honors of his own finishing 5th at 149. It was after his sophomore year that Matt accepted a scholarship to attend Eastern Illinois University (EIU) in Charleston, IL. Matt's adjustment to the level of Division I athletics did not take long as he earned All-American status by way of his 8th place finish in his first year at EIU. He followed that up by placing 5th at the NCAA DI championships making him four for four. That is, each of the four years he wrestled in college, he earned All-American honors. quote:
On Wed (Dec 13th, from Miramar)--Diego Sanchez vs Joe "diesel" Riggs! Josh Koscheck, Drew Fickett, Karo Parisyan, Shonie Carter and Marcus Davis will also fight. Looking forward to the Sanchez/Riggs fight. Not a big Sanchez fan, but I do think he will win. He is a great wrestler. quote:
Keith Jardine (IMO, he beat Stephen Bonner). I agree! I think Griffin will beat him though.

if you want up to date information on mixed martial arts, i highly recommend mmaweekly.com. the information there is some of the most accurate that you will find. i also enjoy fightopinion.com. as well, the ufc just bought out the wec and the wfa. those were two smaller organizaitons that were in competition with the ufc. the wec has produced some great fighters, as well as the wfa has quinton jackson, matt lindland, ivan salaverry, and jason miller. if you want to see fights from outside the ufc, go to youtube.com. check out anderson silva vs ryo chonna, or against tony fryklund. you will see just how good anderson truly is.
