Anyone live in, or used to live in a neighborhood where the street names have a particular theme (names of States, major universities, types of trees, countries, etc.)? I live in a condo where all the street names begin with "North". I don't really consider that a concept though.

Where I live, all the streets running north and south have numbers, but all the streets that go east to west are trees. My street is named Larch St. and no one here has ever seen a larch tree (I had to look it up in a dictionary to know what it was!) lol! In our nearest large town (about 35,000 pop.), the streets on the east side of town have state names and on the west side of town, they are presidents. It kind of helps navigate the town, because you know which side of town you need to be on by the street name. We used to live in a town where all the streets were numbers, so there were four of each number: 1st St SW, !st St SE, 1st St NW, 1st St NE. It was very confusing for travelers and delivery people, especially if the sender forgot to put the directional part of the name on the address.

I live in the area of my city that has presidential street names. I'm on Tyler, Harrison is a street over, Polk, Taylor, Lincoln, Fillmore, Washington, Adams, etc. This is the "downtown" area. We also have a neighborhood--San Jacinto--that has names of all the confederate states. One of our low-income, high-crime-rate areas is made up of the "tree streets." If you live on street that is the name of a tree, you'll probably want to try to move. There are other similarly-themed neighborhoods as well.

I live on an estate where the streets are named after painters and sculpters up the road the streets are named after english prisons. Here in the U K the prisons are named after the town they are situated in, but I think the planners thought when they named the streets after towns.

We live in the "President" part of town, on Jefferson Avenue. We have the "tree" section as well as the section where they just couldn't think of names, so they are "A" Street, "B" Street, etc.

I'm not sure, but in the apartments I live in there is a street called Park Meadows Ave., and right next to it is Park Meadows Dr., I thought that was kind of strange, and they are both easily mixed up.

My subdivision is called the fairways and I didn't notice that the name of the streets were after golfers until my grandma told me. Such as Hogan, Zaharias and Snead.

All the streets in my neighborhood are named after various Native American tribes.

I used to live in a city where all of the names of the streets were either literary characters, places, books, or events. There was even a Bragdon Woods ("That Hideous Strength" - C.S. Lewis). It was pretty cool. I miss it ...

Hubby and I went to college in Bemidji MN, The N-S streets were named: Bemidji Beltrami (the county) Minnesota America In that order from the lake on over. Then they threw in an Irvine for some silly reason and then we had Mississippi. Of course in my thinking Mississippi should have come before America, and Irvine should have been something else altogether, but they didn't ask me when naming things. Blessings, Garsy
