I'm curious what peoples thoughts are on it? I'm a guy, but not looking for just guys opinions. My personal experience is it's been much more difficult to get close to a christian woman then a non-christian. I'm not talking about just the physical here either. What causes the walls to come up and/or lack of openness or intimacy?

Are you talking about The Lost Girls article on the Singles Channel of this site?

I think the article touches on some really good questions, and I look forward to the followup article. To me, the reasons she mentioned that hit home with me were a multiple-choice culture and waiting until later to marry. I think both of those factors make someone more picky. As someone grows older, she becomes more and more defined as her own person, so it's harder to find others who are on her "wave length."

As for your question about the walls coming up, I'm not sure. Could it be Christian women are more secure in themselves because they know they are loved by God and so not so needy for affirmation from a romantic relationship? (This may not be the reason, but just a thought.)

Yes, I was. Thanks for replying by the way... I didn't think anyone was going to

I've been reading through some interesting threads on here lately and one that John_O started I thought was interesting about being real. I think it may be a mix of being secure like yourself... and also maybe people having a hard time relating to one another, because of possibly worrying too much about what others will think of them. I know I'm guilty of this myself at times and it can be quite frustrating.

Another good article I thought was good too is "A Longing Like Starvation" I can relate to this one. When I was young I thought the exact same thing that I had all the time in the world and now it seems developing an intimate relationship with someone is the hardest thing in the world.

Hi TF! If you link to the article you may get more of a response. I just did not know where to find the article you were referring to.

I guess that would have helped... sorry about that.

Here's the link to both articles that I referenced:

These are currently posted on the singles link on CW... I check there periodically, since I've come across some pretty good articles.

You're welcome! I wanted to read a post but was tired and didn't want to read through lots of replies, so when I saw yours with 0 replies I thought I'd check it out!

I haven't read the Longing article ... I'll have to do that. I haven't read the being real thread either. How exactly does worrying what others think make women have a hard time relating? Would it be a case of someone being reluctant to get close for fear of what the other person would think?

Hmmm ... this is a complex topic. I think as Christians, especially those active in a church we DO care what others think because we care about doing what's right, so if we believe others have our same values we want their approval. Although the need for affirmation goes much deeper than that.
