I had a good conversation with my best friend today about doing what you are passionate about. If you could paint a picture of your ideal career, would you be standing in that picture today? Are you satisfied with what you do everyday?

I used to fantasize about having the job I have now. I teach drama in public schools. I love it. It does make me tired, it does wear out my throat...but my primary school is fabulous, the staff and principle are wonderful. The kids are great (most of them). I have been in schools that are more of a battle zone, but I was glad to be there for the kids who really wanted to do well in school. We are having a cultural arts week. I have tons of photos to send to flickr!

I put "somewhat" just because I'm in school. So I hope to be doing what I'm passionate about soon. I also commercial fish to make money during the summers. While I'm not fully passionate about it, its something that I have a lot of fun doing and the hard work is rewarding

There is nothing in my job that anyone could find satisfying. It is utterly dull, repetitive, and the only benefit I derive from it is a paycheck every other week. In addition, the miserable and endless commute saps my energy and my hope. To cap it off, we've just been sold and rumour has it that the new owners are going to extend the hours, introduce shift work, and possibly replace all of us. If I could paint a picture of my ideal career, I would be standing outside the frame with my back to the picture, sobbing. I am nowhere near my ideal career path, and don't know how to get back. I don't even know if there's a road back from this desolation.

This whole topic of doing what your passionate about has been a constant in my life. Funny, here now, because since I was a kid and got introduced to CCM I always wanted to work in the music industry, but you know how family has a way of putting out the fire in hopes that you will do something "more realistic" Well, I am now 35, single mom, unemployed, and will have my B.A. in business management this summer. I oftern ask God to put people in my life so I can do something with all this inside of me, but I haven't figured it out yet. I am really hopping that this time around God will let me have my way some how. I just hear ccm, old songs, new songs, old and new re-discovered songs and my heart just jumps for joy, and something deep inside of me get ignighted that I can't do anything with. Well, I guess you all can just keep me in your prayers on this one. I think I'm in the right place for this, lol, don't you think? ccm career prayer and all. Thanks, Robin

You never know, It can be a winding road to get to the desired career path. Things change in ways we never would have expected. Hind sight is 20/20.

Well, I am people person, this I know. I have had jobs in the hospitality field, but the hours are just too crazy with daycare and my daughter. I am struggling right now to be able to find a nich and still have day care for my daughter. I think a concert promoter would be cool, or even doing office work at a radio station. I use to want to be a DJ too, but never learned how. I just don't know how to go about reseaching opportunites in this industry, and still being able to have a place to put my daughter at the same time while working. What am I passionate about? Music. Its like, when I hear a song that really moves me, I want to tell the world about it. I wish I could get every one to hear it as I am listening to it. I know you can share it online or burn a disc for someone, but thats not making a living. Radio and promotions have crazy hours too. Its very head jarring. I wish I had a clear answer, but I guess I'm stuck in a rutt. Would love any suggestions if you got them

I homeschool my children and I consider that my career, so YES I am passionate about that. However, to help out financially I have to work PT nights(not in the career I went to school for) at McD(work here because of flexibility) and working there(working period really) I am NOT passionate about.

Am I working my passions eh? Well, right now I'm in Bible college and my passion is to be a writer as well as to serve God through His calling that He placed on my life some years ago to be a pastor. While I'm still working out the specifics (as far as role regarding ministry specification (i.e. teaching pastor, prayer pastor, etc.) I know that this will be full-time. I also love to teach and desire to teach Bible college oneday. So, to answer the question fully, yes and no. Yes, in regards to writing even though I only do this in my part-time leisure hours but am now also taking a home-based writing program that will prepare me for publishing. As I want to, though, in any of this, I'm not. I think, for legitimate reasons, though, I haven't really been pulpit preaching but am looking to do some open air sometime in the future. I think it's a great way to start really breaking ground in that area (I have done some preaching in the past, at a formal church but after I left the opportunities to preach were from slim to none.) as well as a great icebreaker for my fear of standing in front of crowds. But, as I am preparing to serve in my passion, sometimes to serve in the capacity that you desire you must learn to serve in a capacity that first train you to serve. Or, in most cases, you have to pay the bills and start somewhere, and then make your way towards that passonite goal. It took me months and years of moving jobs and locations before I finally knew what God wanted to do and how to serve Him passionately. Now, I have some clear direction in my life of where I want to go, be, and do for the Lord. As such, I'm engaged in as much in my passions as time and resources will allow me to, as I look forward to serving and carrying out my passions full-time in the future. That's what I believe, anyway. How bout everyone else?

I voted some time ago...passionate... Before I became a mom it would probably have been fully passionate. What I do is important and may help save lives, though most may not realize that my job even exists. What I do matters...but given the option of staying home and making an impact in my child's life...I'd be home in a minute if it were possible (single mom).

Iam an 'art diirector/graphic designer".....can't think of doing anything else. YES, my "job function" is great.....the actual "work" that I perform at my current company is typically more "less satisfying" than what I would like, BUT, they pay me a heck of alot, so, even if there are some "mundane" projects, I can overlook that. what's the saying? Find what you LOVE to do, and you'll never work a day in your life. that's pretty much it for me.....my wife tells my kids that I "draw and color" all day. Even after "retirement" (in 20 or so years), I would definitely continue doing what I do (on a freelance basis).... my father had "just a job" in an auto factory for over 30 years. I saw how miserable he was day in and day out.
