With all of the tough issues in parenting out there, I thought it might be a nice break to tell other parents about the great things that are happening in your family.
I'll start. Yesterday my six-year-old boy rode his two-wheel bike without training wheels for the first time! I thought it would never happen-- he was too scared he'd fall down. He is so thrilled, he woke me up this morning before dawn to ask if he could go outside and ride his bike. I've created a monster! 
It was great for him to see that if you try, and try again... and fall down once or twice, you CAN do it. There is nothing like the look of pure joy when he knows that his parents are proud of his accomplishment.

Yesterday, we fed our almost 6 month old daughter her first solid food. Cooked, mashed carrots, she loved them and spit none of it out. As I hate cooked carrots myself, this amazing and bizzare! lol

Okay, my 13-year old daughter cried happy tears when she was baptized two weeks ago, and my 15 1/2-year old son really wants to be discipled in a group of other teen guys at church.

Awesome!!
My 23 yo ds decided to quit a job that was getting him no where. He had set aside enough funds to see him through for a while and is now a firefighter. He had no help from his father or I financially.
My 21 yo dd is in college and will graduate soon. She is autistic. She has everything set up to open her own dog grooming business.
My 19 yo ds graduates tomorrow from high school and is going to be attending Washington State.
My 15 yo dd has had some major changes in her life during the last six or seven months, including her father and I separating and me moving her from Indiana back to CA. She lived for 13 years in a town of 800 people in IN. We now live in a town of around 125,000 people and she has done an amazing job of adjusting and making new friends and examining her faith in Christ. She even went toe-to-toe the other day with my sister on why premarital sex is wrong. When the "debate" cooled off, my sister chuckled and then asked her to go explain that to her younger cousins. LOL!

Thanks, guys! It is so fun to hear about the joys in your parenting life-- there are so many every day! Keep 'em coming!
DenimDiva, I am especially glad to hear about your youngest dd. I was "tragically uprooted" (at least, in my teenage mind) when I was 14. It was the best thing that could have happened to me in terms of my faith. I had to make some real decisions about who I wanted to be and what my values were. I also had the epiphany at that tender age that if I didn't like me, how could I expect others to like me? I then had the unique opportunity to define who I was going to be. Not many teens have that opportunity. She will thank you for this at least by her actions. You sound like you have done a great job with all four!

can i brag, too? 
my 13 yo daughter went to the mall with 2 new friends (we just moved last summer, and she just went back into public school after homeschooling in april) and a mom yesterday. when they brought her home, the mom told me how mature my daughter was...and that my daughter is the kind of girl she wants her daughter to be like and hang out with. she was amazed at my baby's openness and honesty with me...and the kindness at her buying her lil bro and sis (9 and 11) something.
i am so pleased to see my daughter grow into such a wonderful young woman!!

My 15 yo DS took it upon himself to volunteer as an aide at the public pool, where he's on swim team. You haven't seen cute until you have seen a fifteen year old boy crouch down and play motorboat-motorboat in a foot of water with 20 two year olds!
Nate has inherited his dad's love and talent for photography and he got some outstanding pics of fireworks on Friday. He also took a digital photography class with a whole bunch of senior citizens at the community school, which they apparently got a kick out of.
I just love that either boy can 'hang' with anyone of any age.

My 2yo dd is such a bubbly little thing and attracts attention where ever we go. One thing that happened this week: my dh took her to the store (just the two of them) and he said that every women he saw said she was so cute. She is a blue eyes, curly haired, blue eyed monster. I am not a vain person but we get commented about her all the time.

My oldest is 20 and he was accepted to be on a team of students to do math research. He is spending 8 weeks this Summer researching the geometric analysis of a dynamic system. Anyway he is at a university in Terre Haute (sp?) Indiana. He called the other day and he has developed a theorem and proven it. My youngest is 18 and last weekend he learned to ride his dad's 6 foot unicycle! Woohoo!!!

Well, Akeela DOES look like a little doll. She is just too cute.
Nate was really cute and people would say that and I always told them the problem was he KNEW he was cute and thought that meant he could get away with anything as long as he smiled while he did it!

My son received his blue belt in Jiu-Jitsu 2 weeks ago. At 17, he is the youngest student in his adult class to get a blue belt.

Today my three year old learned how to swim solo, with a life jacket of course. He had so much fun that now all he wants to do is go to the lake.
