Hey, I was wondering, can anyone give me (and my mom) some good suggestions for controlling these nasty weeds that come up in my yard every spring. they have completely taken over the back yard and most of the front yard and they hurt, especially when they get in your shoes!!!
does someone have a good, environmentally/lawn/soil friendly way to control them? they are really bad! thanks in advance

With sand burrs and goat heads I have always tried pulling them. If they seed out, which is when they become stickers, your best course is to pull them and try not to lose any of the heads or they will seed. If you don't like pulling them or your lawn is rather large you could try bagging your clippings. I had a rather large back yard once that was infested with them and had luck getting them to a manageble state by bagging my grass. Another option is to visit a nursery for advise on a herbicide to use and when. I think in the end the best way to manage stickers is by pulling. Which part of Oklahoma are you in? I spent 10 years in the panhandle where I met my wife. Good luck with the sand burrs.
