I guess people at Texas Tech are pretty riled up over it, but it looks like the same thing has been done at other universities. I've never heard of it.

Some students at Cedarville University pulled that stunt last year, and got in major trouble over it... Almost got the student Republican organization in trouble because one of the organizers of the "game" was a leader of the Republican org., and some people thought that meant that the Republican org. was behind the "game".
"Obviously, if you’re not an illegal immigrant, it shouldn’t be offensive, and if you are an illegal immigrant, then, you know, why are you here?”
Interesting.
quote:
Most criticism and backlash for the event came from those who had a qualm with the wording of the shirts, Cullin said. The word “Catch” offended people most because it somehow implied violence.
Give me a break. I catch fish, I catch the morning news, I catch a train... no violence required...

My thoughts: It was tasteless, but then, when are college students not doing stupid things like this.
Students were offended about the "Catch" word in the phrase "Catch me if you can" because they thought it gave a violent meaning to it all? Oh geez, we have way too many sensitive people ready to be offended. Shhh, don't say anything, you're bound to offend someone and then you'll have to apologize.
People are giving this way more attention than it needs!
