Cold sheets... How much will you tolerate? So after a conversation at work with some of the guys, I started thinking. I thought I was really weird for really enjoying climbing into cold sheets at night. But the guys were saying they loved that, too. So.. is it a guy thing and I'm just weird, or is there even a correlation between one's gender and how they like their sheets? So Singles... how do you like your sheets? Cold, or warmed up by an electric blanket or mattress pad? Also, how important is this to you? Is this something that you would give in to your future spouse on or something you would fight for your preference on?

I don't think I can vote...I've never even thought about warming the sheets before getting into them. 'Course, I guess that means cold sheets suit me since I never thought they were a problem that needed to be fixed. I can't sleep right when it's too warm so I like the room cool, too. If a spouse wanted the sheets warm, I'd probably make sure he had an electric blanket or whatever for his side of the bed. There's almost always something that can be done to accommodate both people so long as neither digs their heels in and insists on their way across the board. Edit ~ so I voted that I'm female and prefer cold sheets but didn't vote for giving in/fighting because I don't see myself doing either. Like I said, both can compromise and have (mostly) what they want without one having to give in or fight for their preference.

As far as I'm concerned - the cooler the better! I HATE being too hot when I'm sleeping! Hopefully I'll find someone who feels the same way.

I'm the same way. I prefer the sheets to be ice cold especially since I can't have a fan on or the window open because of my allergies. Soooo... Besides...the colder it is, the better excuse to snuggle under the covers.

Sheets? Meh, this is one of those questions I wouldn't care about one way or another. If my wife has a preference, she can have her way every night forever and ever.

I prefer no sheets. I am tall and my feet hang off the bed and if I have sheets/covers then they pull my feet down. With the heat on, or AC off, I sleep with no sheets. I feel so free.

It depends on the season. In summer, there is nothing better than fresh, cold cotton sheets... In winter (when my bedroom resembles if not the freezer, than the fridger) I go for brushed cotton sheets and hot water bottles. Oh, and bribing my cat to come and curl up with me! There are some things that I do not compromise on. Until I meet a man who wants to marry me, I'm not sure whether this is one of them...

Boots, great thread! I didn't vote . . . and I'll tell ya why . . . My preference would be to turn on an electric blanket on high about 30 minutes before going to bed and then turn it midway down and keep it there all night till I wake up the next morning. However. Electric blankets and/or mattress pads have been proven to be a seizure-trigger in some people (and I can definitely personally vouch for that). So I compensate in the winter by wearing thick, insulated winter socks; I can't stand for my feet to be the slightest bit cold. On a different note, last year, I bought my first set of flannel sheets. Oh! The pure bliss! I don't know why it took me so long to get some; especially since practically everyone I know uses them in the winter out here in the Beautiful Wild Wild West. I never got around to buying non-flannel sheets for this past summer, so during the 2.5 months of almost summer that we had this year, I slept under flannel sheets with the air conditioner on. Also, like a couple of other posters, I prefer to sleep under substantial weight . . . I currently have 2 thin comforters (or the equivalent of one thick one) and a throw on my bed (in addition to the flannel sheets). Truthfully, I'm thinking of getting one more comforter - for the weight. Speaking of winter, regardless of what the calendar says, it's here . . . and it made quite an entrance with its appearance two days ago. We had six inches of snow Sunday night; and this morning, it is was still on the ground. Bonus information: I sleep with 2 king-sized "full" pillows . . . one, I use as a pillow and the other one I use either a snuggle, as a back pillow or sometimes it ends up on the floor before the morning arrives. .

Depends on what the weather's like. If it's hot, I'd rather have cold sheets and vice versa. I personally wouldn't use an electric blanket anymore, as when I was 14, my parents' bed actually caught fire due to an electrical fault in one. My mother got up to go to the bathroom and when she came back, her side of the bed was on fire, and she and my brother had a hard time waking my dad up. (He was a very heavy sleeper). If I ever get married and he wants warmed sheets, I'd ask him to do as I do. Use hot water bottles, or flannelette sheets or extra blankets. My polar fleece blanket close to my skin gets me nice and toasty on cold nights.

As long as the sheets are clean, I don't care. They'll be Edwin temperature in a couple of minutes anyway.
