I have about 30 people here for about 11 days. Does anyone have any suggestions for menu ideas or recipes.

30??? Surely not in your home. I am speechless.

We did fundraisers over the past summer for a youth trip at church. We fed about 50 each Wednesday. We did things like...

Spaghetti
Soup/cornbread
Red Bean and Rice
Tacos
Chili
Spanish Rice w/chicken
Chicken Spaghetti
Pulled Pork Sandwiches

Doing meat and sides can get pricey, but we did find leg quarter on sale and baked them one time. Do you have a food service in your town? They usually have very nicely priced foot items, including meats.

Yes, in my home. Thanks for the ideas. I am attempting to keep the budget down to around $500, but I will check out your suggestion

Ok, this could be fun. For 30 people, what I would do is alot of what others suggested.

Spaghetti is a must because it is cheap and easy.
Brats and hotdogs on a grill are cheap and easy.

Do you have an Aldi Store near you?

Chili and anything that can go in a crockpot. I have a great Chicken and Dumplings recipe that is simple and makes alot, but you would use more than one chicken.

Whatever meat is on sale at the grocery store.

Home made mac and cheese, or the boxed kind if you have an aldi.

Lots of in season fresh fruit like watermelon. Apples and pears can be cheap to munch on.

things to make potato salad, pasta salad and egg salad.

brownies, cupcakes are cheap and easy to make. Rice Crispy treats.

Are these adults or kids or a mix? Lots of big guys?

If you have an Aldi, you can buy a bunch of frozen pizzas, fish sticks, chicken nuggets, gallons of ice cream and canned vegetables along with frozen fruit and yogurt for really cheap.

Not all of it is the healthiest, but lots of it kid friendly and if you supplement it with fruit and milk, it really isn't that bad for just less than two weeks.

But if you can keep lots of fresh fruit around, they will also munch on that and not be so hungry for the unhealthy stuff.

Is this for a wedding? All in your home? Maybe you might want to take some of your food budget and get a hotel room for yourself. Just kidding. Do you have a casserole cookbook that you can start putting things together now and freezing them? Do you have a grill because there are lots of things you can do on the grill that will keep people happy too.

Also, if cereal is on sale, or if you have an Aldi, keep lots of that around because at least around here, we eat a small bowl of cereal for snacks.

Are you a bread baker? You can cut your costs by baking bread rather than buying it. The most expensive thing is going to be the meat, but again, if you can cook out a few times and shop at a discount store, you should be able to easily do that for UNDER 300.00

Make is easy!! Do ahead frozen meals work great--and have plenty of cut up ready fruit for snacking--sandwiches they can make for lunches---Make breakfast and lunches a do it your self item--and make up a chart for clean up duty! that way everyone will know what is expected and the time expected!! and use paper paper paper or plastic plastic!! Id get a 5 gallon water cooler and keep it full of ice water with paper cups on top---easy drinks--simplify simplify simplify!!
