YES!
I don't have a profound reason for it...I just think that everyone should have basic cooking skills, particularly in a marriage. You never know when you need to pick up you spouse's usual responsibilities for a while. (NO I am not implying "man's job vs. woman's job", for the record)

So impressed, I married him!
Our second date was a picnic, and he put it together: frozen seedless grapes, smoked oysters (I wasn't too crazy about those), salmon mousse (what was that???), crackers, cheese, french bread and sparkling cider. I was deeply impressed, even though no cooking was involved.
I knew how to cook an egg and open cans, but that was about it, so he taught me to cook.
I once had a guy from church cook lunch for me when I was single; it wasn't anything fancy but tasty and filling (it may have been mac 'n' cheese; I don't remember) and I was touched and impressed.
A guy should know how to cook to save his life as a single and be able to help out when his wife can't cook (sick, visiting mother, etc.). It makes him look competent and able to care for others as well as not die if no one is there to take care of him.
A guy could always ask an interesting girl for cooking lessons!

Yes, I love when a man can cook... especially when he cooks well!
Probly partially cuz I am just learning to do much beside maccaroni and cheese!

Preparing good meals is the most important duty a helpmate has. Doing so provides a family with good nourishing food, and compared to eating out, it costs about 1/2 as much.
Do women like a man who can cook? Of course. Do men like a woman who can cook? Of course.
Cooking can be a pain to some people but being a bachelor, and wanting to not die of cholesterol toxicity or McFatness, I've gotten pretty crafty in my old age.
You start with fresh tomatoes, cut em up with some fresh squash, a jalepeno, maybe a fresh baby turnip or some carrots. Add about 1/3 lb. of you favorite meat.. like lean burger, chicken, bratwurst etc.
Stew this combo in 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup beer (or wine if you prefer) for 30 minutes or so.
Serve it over restaurant style corn tortilla chips and garnish with some fresh salsa and/or grated cheddar cheese... ummm
Now whats hard about that?

[For the guys reading this, here's how to really impress a lady:
Cut up a boneless chicken breast into slender slices, and cook in a hot skillet with a touch of oil or oil spray for a couple of minutes. Remove to a plate and throw into the pan: chopped onions, sliced bell pepper, and other veg chopped thin for quick cooking. Keep stirring it untill it browns a touch - maybe 1-2 minutes. Throw in a dash of soysauce or teriyaki sauce and throw the chicken back in for 30 seconds. Put cooked rice on a plate, put the veg/chicken on it, and serve to an astonished and appreciative lady]

I would expect that a man should know how to cook. Unless he is very wealthy and has a chef, or eats out every night. Even then, he should at least know how to boil an egg, flip some pancakes, and bake some chicken. I made sure my son knew how to cook everything I did because I didn't know how long he'd be living single before he got married. He's 26 now and still single living alone and he knows how to shop, budget and cook for himself without having to eat out every night of the week.

A man's kitchen should be outdoors and fueled by charcoal!
I say this in jest but I love the smell of m'love after he has been cooking something yummy on the grill.
A man doesn't have to be a good cook but it is a nice benefit.

My husband took over the cooking about 15 years into our marriage. That was 10 years ago and yes I love it. He is a great cook and very budget conscious in his meal preparation.
