I don't know about where you live, but here in South Jersey there are like two dog parks. Which are too far from me anyway. It seems as if there are alot of dog lovers out there, but there isn't anywhere to walk your dog. Even in the neighborhoods around here you see signs all over. "Please curb your dog", "Please no dogs on grass" and so forth. How is it like where you live? Where do you walk your dog/dogs?

We have a dog park practically in our backyard. We live right next to the city park and I go over there quite often just to sit and journal or read my Bible. Sometimes I like to take a break and talk to the dog owners, since we don't have a dog ourselves.

We have hundreds of parks to choose from in our area. We avoid parks where dogs are allowed to go off leash because we have had too many scary encounters with bad dogs. Our dogs are too small to have large dogs trying to pick fights with them. We are moving 10 minutes out of town at the end of the year and will pretty much live in a park. There are paths all up and down the hills where our place is being built. And a river across the road, a lake 5 minutes away and the mountains just a half an hour away. I can't wait!

There are lots of parks out here and dogs are allowed at most of them. Some are on leash and some are off leash. We just got a new off leash park about a quarter mile from our house. My dog LOVES to play soccer so it is nice to be able to take him somewhere that he can run full out. I have never seen anything more serious than a little disagreement between dogs at an off leash park.

Did you know that Toronto is called "The City Within a Park"? Seriously, we have so many parks in the city it's unbelievable, so I imagine there would be quite a few dog parks as well. In my neighbourhood we have a small park with a splash pad, playground and basketball courts. We also have way too many people living in our neighbourhood, so the park is always full of families and young children. I just noticed that they have put up a small fenced in area in the park, which I'm assuming is for people to let their dogs run free. Which is nice, because I think people with dogs should be allowed to have them run free, however those of us who have young children should not have to worry about those dogs. The other day I noticed two guys letting their two dogs run around the park completely. That annoyed me, knowing how much Dh is afraid of dogs. But these two guys were too scary looking for me to approach them and say anything to them. (I'm sure they are actually very nice people, but I just don't want to take my chance.)

Dogs have been a bit topic up here in Anchorage for several years, mostly due to owners not scooping up after their pets. A couple of parks have been designated as dog parks and dogs are allowed off leash, but there are still problems. In fact, there's serious talk about banning dogs from ballfields due to the dropping problems. It gets particularly nasty in the spring when the snow melts and a winter's worth of droppings are exposed. Frankly, if dog owners are not willing to step up to the plate, so to speak, and clean up, then they should not be surprised other people do not welcome their pets.
