Hi. I have been led to the book of Ezekial for the 4th time in the last 5 days. I am at a point in my life that I am trying to listen to what God is telling me or searching for that focus through Him. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I have read through it but my understanding is little.

The name Ezekiel means "(whom) God will strengthen" ; or, "God will prevail" . There should be an introduction at the beginning of that book in your bible. I have a NIV and it says Ezekiel means "God is strong". Connie Lou

"Ezekiel was a contemporary of Jeremiah and Daniel...and was a young man when he was taken captive, and he too had probably heard Jeremiah, but had no personal acquaintance with Daniel...The message of Ezekiel is the most spiritual of all the prophets because he dealt particularly with the Person of God. Someone has said, “Ezekiel is the prophet of the Spirit, as Isaiah is the prophet of the Son, and Jeremiah the prophet of the Father.”-McGee, J. V. (1997, c1981). Thru the Bible (electronic ed.) Ezekiel was a 'strange duck'(IMHO). Some of the object lessons God directed were unique to say the least. Probably part of the confusion is the book as many prophetic books in the OT switches from prior to future with little segue because the 'church age'(new covenant)is largely omitted for OT prophecy deal specifically and nearly exclusively with the Israel. Therefore, it's almost dangerous to make direct comparison except in the most personal sense. One of the best studies of Ezekiel(and the Major/Minor prophets in general)is JV McGee's Thru the Bible series.
