Having recently spoken with a person of the Mormon faith and also a person of the Baha'i faith it seems that these faiths are pointing in the direction of there being something 'mystic' that is already here or is soon to come. I believe Satan is trying to roll out the red carpet for the Antichrist who will claim to be God. Revelation 13:11.
We are currently in the chapter 11 process of Revelation. Satan gets cast out of Heaven during Revelation 12:9 of which has yet to take place though that time approaches soon enough. When Satan is cast out of Heaven the Antichrist will become the permanent host for Satan.

Cloud9lives is a little presumptuous in saying we are at chapter 11! Perhaps we could bring this down out of the clouds and seriously look at mystic movements world wide. What else could unite the World religions other than mysticism? All religions have a strong mystic strain in my experience?

First off... Mysticism is nothing new. Secondly, mysticism is somewhat universal in all religions, no matter what they call themselves. Christian Mysticism dates way back to the turn of the third century AD (Origen). Based on this, "going mystical" is not a sign of the apocolypse.

Thirdly, the word "mystical" comes from latin and greek words that both simply mean "hidden". So in reality, anything that is shrouded in mystery (ie, God) by definition is mystical. What does all of this add up to? Chill. The world will grow darker, but the church will also grow brighter (see the parable of the wheat and the tares) before the coming of the son of man. If we are willing to believe that mankind will reach the pinnacle of sin at the end times, it is a necessity that the church will reach the pinnacle of holiness. That is why it's a good time to be alive. But this is not a definite sign that that time be "now".

You kinda get the idea.

Anyway - I actually was not off topic. This whole idea of trying to pinpoint where we are in Revelations (when there are several scenarios in different chapters that are overlapping) is a dangerous thing. It has given rise to many cults over the centuries including the JW and the early SDA. I was trying to point to the siliness of that. (and on the side poke a little fun at those who think the current crop of presidential wannabes are messiahs - way too mystical for me!)

I have a good friend who is now a protestant pastor but grew up catholic. He and I had a conversation about mysticism several years ago. He told me what it was to be a christian mystic and he said I qualified having grown up pentecostal and having prayed for sick people who recieved miraculous healings.

Like the false priests of pharoh who duplicated some of the miracles and plagues that Moses called down, false religions will duplicate some of what God can do. But remember, their staves/snakes were swallowed up by Moses' staff. The falseness is not in whether they believe in the supernatural (mysticism) or not, but in rejecting the God of the Bible and His ways.

Wonderful statement, Dave. Absolutely true!

research the "Desert Fathers" for the earliest forms of christian mysticism. Most think that all mysticism is eastern but that is not neccesarily true. Mysticism does mean "hidden knowledge." So think of the Gnostics, or the Nicolatians and Baalamites referred to in scripture. It is the mysterious that hooks the simple mind into thinking they will be made powerful by great knowledge. Please see 2 Cor 10:4 on how to respond

I agree Dave, but this silliness is growing and mysticism is what I believe will unify all religion, in my humble incomplete opinion. We should study the truth more and more these days because we are in a fading time. I do not know if the nation is fading completely or not. Perhaps Christ is returning more eminently than in previous years. Who knows. But keep watch. I think you are. Read "A time of departing" by Ray Yungen
