This is probably old news to the metal fans on this board, but Black Sabbath has recently released a new box set of all the albums featuring Ronnie James Dio. It's called "The Rules Of Hell" and includes "Heaven And Hell", "The Mob Rules", "Live Evil" and "Dehumanizer". Personally, I'd only be interested in the first two albums of that sequence, but that's just me. Not crazy about the title of the set either, but it is what it is. There's wheat and chaff contained therein, but it will be remastered wheat and chaff. Blessings.

Greetings my optically challenged source of lemonade! Dehumanizer wasn't the best of the bunch but does have some gems buried in some of the muck. The song "I" may not be lyrically great but has that "Mob Rules" (IMO, Sabbath's best Dio album) type of feel. "Live Evil" is just weird hearing Dio doing Ozzy era songs! But then "Masters of Reality" was my favorite from that era. Hope you and your family are well! Go White Sox!

Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin were the two most influential bands of the 70's IMHO. KISS and Van Halen influenced the genre in the stage show category. Eddie also took guitar playing to a different level. Judas Priest gave us the double guitar attack and spikes, studs and leather! Queensryche gave us "progressive" metal which was furthered by Dream Theatre. Geoff Tate was definitely influenced by Halford's style although Geoff had one drawback as opposed to the metal god, he didn't have Halford's growl. Tony Iommi's guitar sound on Masters of Reality, I think, was the basis of the grunge sound of the 90's. "Lord of this World" and "Sweet Leaf" are my two most favorite songs on that great album.

Black Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio totally rocks!!! \m/ \m/ I wish that Black Sabbath would have kept him all these years. Black Sabbath is not only the most influential band of the 70's, but perhaps the most influential band of all time after The Beatles. They INVENTED heavy metal. Sure, there was Led Zeppelin, with their huge sound, but Sabbath were not just rock, as Zeppelin were, there was something they did that no one else did before with such apocalyptic themes. That has inspired more bands since. I find the title of the new box set intriguing. The Rules of Hell? I wonder what kind of rules Hell would have? To a lot of people, that just sounds so "obvious", like, "well, they're just being satanic, etc." But that was the biggest appeal of Black Sabbath, they have always been mysterious. Forget about that overplayed, overhyped buffoon of Reality Show business, Sabbath has got a REAL vocalist who can STILL sing, and brings that mystery to the band, Dio's lyrics are inspiring.
