What social kind of things/activities do you like to do with other guys? My work buddies all got RIFed but we thought that we would get together once a month or so for a night out or some other activity. I'm not a very social person but it seems like I've been elected to coordinate the get togethers.. So, I'm looking for ideas. What do you do (or would like to do) socially with other guys? They are not Christian (nor am I) so Bible studies and church activities are not going to work.

We have a few different things, Gun Range, Shoot Pool, Coffee and Cigars, Take in a minor leauge ball game. You can always hang out at a Denny's, I-HOP or Ho-Jo's. Around birthdays we usually do a theme night around some classic movies like Godfather, LOR, or a sports movie theme.

Hello mrtigger Whether you are a Christian or not, I presume that since you're asking Christians that your night's out are of an innocent nature. Such times would not include topless bars or anythings that you would not your wives to know about. I used to live next door to a guy that was into deep sea fishing. He typically took three guys out with him. This guy was not married but I don't know about the ones he took with him. Incidentally, the fellowship of Christian men is fun and interesting. We don't suffer from hangovers and typically have no regrets about the things we said or did. What's more, our wives have full comfort that we conducted ourselves in a manner that we don't need to cover up. Such fellowship is quite fulfilling. We don't keep our noses in Bibles all the time but typically share the joys of the Lord, as well as encouraging others to fulfill our roles as men. Finally, since you are not a Christian, I'm confused as to why you are consulting a Christian forum. You know that our counsel would consist of what might be considered as being innocent. Some might consider our activities to be dull but then the joy of the Lord makes things that we do highly interesting and fulfilling.

Thanks for the responses. quote:
ORIGINAL: jn1010lf Whether you are a Christian or not, I presume that since you're asking Christians that your night's out are of an innocent nature. Hello JN, Yes, me and my ex-coworkers are reasonably well behaved. Not looking for boozing, drugs, carousing with women, or anything like that. Just looking for ideas of (decent) social activities that other guys find worthwhile. To answer your question on why I ask on this forum... When I started here, I considered myself to be a Christian. But since then, I have come to the conclusion that I am not one and probably never have been one and probably never will be one. But this forum is not exclusively for Christians and I find that it is useful for general information, advice, ideas, chit chat, etc. so I still come here.

mr tigger, you made some statements there that needs some ((i am really unsure how to say this)). you said "When I started here, I considered myself to be a Christian. But since then, I have come to the conclusion that I am not one and probably never have been one and probably never will be one" do not judge your life on anything the people on these forums write or say. everyone's life is different. is basically three people that know whether or not you are a "Christian". they are you, God, and Satan. everyone that believes in God should go by the Bible. see thats where people get messed up because is one thing everyone has and thats opinions. everyone interprets the Bible differently so everyone feels in so many words they know the way. do not let the opinions of others stand in the way of you and your walk with Christ. if it is weak, you find the way to strengthen it. if it isnt there? ask yourself if you want to be a Christian and ask yourself what do you need to do to make it right. if you do not choose to be a Christian, then you dont have to be. i am not one that tries to force Christianity down people's throats. because i wasnt one a long time and i despised people who tried to constantly force it on me.

sports, video games, maybe movies especially lame ones that you can laugh at a lot, just talking, playing cards or board games. walking around in the city and trying to find something noteworthy to have fun with/laugh with/laugh at... etc.

I'd rather spend my nights (whether "out" or "in") with my wife and family. Having said that, however, places like Habitat for Humanity and others that build houses for the poor and stuff could use a few good guys on a Saturday some time...... Going to a game or bowling and having a few beers together is also a good choice.....
