I found this to be a very nice film that has a psychological and naturalistic (well, as far as plant parasites go) horror element to it. It was also shockingly disgusting at some moments, but the realism made it all the more great for me. There was a plausible plot and a unique "horror" situation, which kept things tense and enjoyable.

I generally avoid horror films, because they've either made me scared (which I don't like) or they are so ridiculous and pointless as to make me laugh and/or feel disatisfied. I find almost all of the entire horror movie genre disagreeable to me most of the time. Yet, "The Ruins" was a unique kind of film that I really enjoyed personally. I even let my parents watch it and as old as they are, they liked it.

***POSSIBLE SPOILER***

The scenes of plant/worm removal were just so gross, yet realistic looking! My mom atually refused to watch those out of disgust.

I haven't seen the movie, but I bought the book at my local used bookstore. It sounded interesting.

Haven't read the book. But I could see how the plot would make for a potentially nice narrative read. Did you finish it yet? If so, how was it?

I think you'd really like the movie. It's pretty uniquely scary and interesting. The ONLY bad part I didn't like was like a 1-2 second nude scene. But thankfully it was quick.

I'll try and see that one. Thanks for the tip.

I haven't staretd it yet. I've added it to the stack. It may be a while before I actually get to it.
