OK so we all know that the Bible says that if you divorce anyone for any other reason but marital unfaithfulness and marry (or sleep) with someone else you have comitted adultery. BUT what about a situation such as a husband beating his wife, or a wife beating his husband? Or one such as requiring a mother to escape a violent home in which the kids have become the target of violence. If he or she were to marry someone else would that cause any of the people involved in the new marriage to become adulterers? The scripture would logically answer my question, but something in me just feels that maybe this is a different situation? I don't really know at all and am just curious basically. Thanks in advance.

In my opinion if one were to divorce and remarry for the sake of something "new" then there might be problems. Divorce for violence against a spouse or the children with marriage to another later would not be adultery. In fact that would be about the only time I would encourage a split of the married couple. I believe sexual unfaithfulness can be overcome and is not a reason to jump on the divorce "bandwagon" if both parties are willing to overcome it.

Again, JMO.
