Never would I ever have guessed that a movie about a delusional man who orders a sex doll which believes is his girlfriend would have any redeeming qualities whatsoever.

It ended up being one of the cleanest and morally uplifting movies I've seen in a while. Go figure.

What did people think of this flick?

i felt the same way. i thought it was a very beautiful and sweet movie. i doubt that anyone would act that way around lars in the real world, but it was just a great movie.

I agree. The movie did not cross boundaries and showed love and understanding even though the town didn't really understand. Still, there's no Jesus and it is another hollywood humanist movie. Overall I liked it and found reflections of myself in the main character. It's unfortunate that the Christian movie industry does not have the funds at the moment to make heart touching films with the same visual quality. Pray hard!!

If a film is uplifting and speaks the truth, then it is a "Christian" movie.

So sorry. I did like the film. It's just unfortunate that more movies aren't being made and giving God the credit. I believe people can be touched and their minds affected by the film. Even C.S. Lewis said that it was the imagination that led him to believe in a God and eventually Christ. I mean no disrespect to the film 'Lars' at all. I know that God can reach anybody anyway he wants and it happens all the time. I'm sorry if I upset you. Forgive please.

No apology necessary dude. Just opinions being exchanged - no harm anywhere in that.

Still curious what you meant be " Still, there's no Jesus".

He means that there is no specifically Christian message in the movie. The gospel was not preached; no one was saved.

There was plenty of what would be considered to be "Christian Messages" in the film. Lars remains abstinent during his relationship with Bianca, the Church (along with many of the townspeople) show unconditional love to Lars, and Karin instructs Lars on how to properly respect women.

and i think gosling communicates more in his silences than many actors do in entire scenes...

I saw this movie a few weeks ago and it was very sweet. I wish that Hollywood would make more movies like this. Loved it!

I'm not disputing that - although adoptedson might - but the message isn't overt. I think adoptedson wanted an overt message: the gospel preached and Lars saved on screen.
