I was a fan of MWS for many years but I have provided 100% verifiable proof that he is the Founder and on the Board of Directors of a club that targets children and consistantly brings in OVERTLY SATANIC BANDS to perform. I would have posted all this information here but this site won't allow pictures and they are essential to these findings. Only click on this link if you can be objective... http://only-with-corroborative-evidence.blogspot.com Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Mastodon? COOLNESS!!!!!! Now Smitty's finally getting hip. Those are great bands. I'm listening to "Night Prowler" by AC/DC.

I will surely check out if what you are saying is true. What is the best adres to send a word of warning to Michael W. Smith? Here in the Netherlands Michael is sort of 'a bid idol'. This is heavy info. I am not realy a big fan of Michael W. myself, but two of my sisters are. I haved checked out the website of Rocketown and I saw the posters. I don't know the band yet, but I am goïng to look in to that. If you are right I will send a word of warning to Michael W. Smith and I will pray for him. This beïng true (again) means there is very little time... , but that is something for another blog. Do you have a myspaceaccount. Mine is http://myspace.com/cobyjoy. Here we can show picktures, video and/of sitelinks.

I just web-searched 16 pages of Rocketown stuff, and not one reference to anything like 10 years showed. Anyone else try to see if this slander against a great Christian artist is true or not?

Wow; and now we'll have to boycott Toyota (Scion) too? That's why I drive a Mazda . I'll have to investigate this. I'm not a fan of MWS, but I would be truly shocked to find out if a Christian artists who I believe is a brother in Chirst is connected to the occult.

I didn't even realize that 'hook 'em horns' was a satanic sign. Go figure. To be honest I didn't even know who Michael W Smith was (I'm very old-school). I went to his website and to Rocketown's website and although I really don't like 'Christian Rock' or alternative, and although I didn't like the posters, could find nothing at all 'satanic'.

ORIGINAL: Stephanos I guess all those longhorn fans are going to hell for using that "devils sign"... Btw, Ronnie James Dio, the popularizer of the "horns" gesture, says that the sign is meant to ward off the "Evil Eye". He said his grandmother used it often when a person gave her a suspicious, "evil" glance or look, something in the Italian community, perhaps, where there was something spiritually harmful communicated in just how a person looked at you. So the "horns" gesture is in fact a positive thing. I'm listening to "Conquistadors" by Running Wild. Awesome thrashing piower metal that even mentions the word 'Christianity' in the lyrics.

Based on most of the comments I am seeing here...let me see if I got this right-- The devil is completely inactive in this world? He never uses rock music to influence young people for evil? Even if the rock group in question has every appearance of occultism and has lyrics that are grotesque and suggestive of evil and occultism...it's all just a joke? The devil has no followers on earth? Anybody who points out signs of occultism is a "the-sky-is-falling" alarmist? All the Scriptures that warn of increasing evil in the 'end times' are to be laughed off? And anyone who comes along trying to point out the increasing evil of our times...is simply "confused"?

Of course the Devil is real and evil still exists. But it can be taken to the other extreme as well. I think the real danger here is if our teens are being deceived. The OP's relevant point is that Rocketown presents itself as a safe place for teens but has all these bands come in with their evil messages. Don't just look at the lyrics but look at whether teens are being deceived by these lyrics. I'd like to hear from people who actually work with teens. I work with 7th and 8th graders as a teacher and I can tell you that in my experience Gangsta Rap & Hip Hop* are far more dangerous than "Satan's Metal"**. Most teens in my experience don't listen to it and those that do are usually perceptive enough to laugh it off for what it is. I'm not saying that there is no danger in "Satan's Metal" but you can't really miss what it is. Hip Hop advertises a no consequence fun time of sex, drugs (and I include booze in that) and thug life that teens buy into. Its not nearly as obvious that it is bad but I guarentee you that it leads to more misery for them and for those who become victims of these teens who take the thug life mentality to the extreme (which are not many but enough to be concerned, especially one time incidents). The devil is dangerous but if we're going to discuss it lets get real about the actual dangers and not a bunch of Satanic distraction. Or do you think the Devil isn't bright enough to use diversionary tactics while he plants the real danger seeds of materialism, hedonism and conformity in our world culture? 50 Cent & Britney Spears are far more dangerous to our culture than Cradle of Filth or King Diamond as they have a greater affect on the world culture that ignores God rather than hates Him. Apathy is the opposite of love, not hate. * I have nothing against Hip Hop personally. Many Hip Hoppers may be well meaning but their effect on the culture through their fun, party songs and the mythification of the glories of the "ghetto life" are damaging nonetheless. I speak of what I see. My major concern is that this mentality causes these very likable "little ones" to stumble, not realizing the real life consequences of this lifestyle. ** "Satan's Metal" is a generic term for those bands (some of whom unfortunately play at Rocketown but not as many as the OP is saying) that shock with stories of Satanism, evil, brutality and the occult. That does not include every band that brings these subjects up in their lyrics but it does include the bands that focus on it obsessively as part of their rep/image.

Why does it appear that there so few people on this board that are capable of discussing facts? I bring proof and ask you to make calls to tell them to stop this and what happens? Deny, deny, deny, without a hint of rebuttal to the evidence... And to verify that the posters (with the names of the bands) I provided weren't photoshopped go to http://www.rocketown.smugmug.com/gallery/2577894 (at least as long as they leave it up). I send my best wishes to all who have the intrepidity to seek the truth for themselves

WOW people. I wonder if these apparently illiterate detractors responded this way to the news about Ted Haggard as well? I fail to see the connection other than they both have made mistakes in their lives. In that we are all guilty. Why do you insist on comparing the two? BTW: is the name calling really necessary? I mean since they are able to respond (unless they have someone reading to them and typing for them) I would think literacy is a given or clearly apparent. I think your beef would be more accurately stated as they attempted to rebut your argument without addressing the evidence you provided. quote:
I say "apparently illiterate" because NOT ONCE did they address the lyrics of the bands I absolutely acknowledged the lyrics of these bands, I made a general observation as to what I feel is the real danger in our society. quote:
And to verify that the posters (with the names of the bands) I provided weren't photoshopped go to http://www.rocketown.smugmug.com/gallery/2577894 (at least as long as they leave it up). Well I believe you. But since they have been up for so long and their PR department has little time for your concerns (as you outline in your blog) why would you suspect that they will take down their poster gallery?

Rufus, 1) I didn't even see your response. I must have been working on my post... 2) I use Haggard as an example of someone who, for quite some time, many in the Christian community vehomently defended his innocence and then finally believed the accusations when he finally admitted in Feb 07 that he did buy the meth and have sex with that male prostitute. I am not saying that anyone is beyond redemption but we should not blindly defend someone when proper evidence is brought forth. 3) I just cut and pasted from that band's website. I missed the m...a word. 4) I do not understand this statement: quote:
but not as many as the OP is saying I provide information on 20+ bands!!! 5) Q: quote:
why would you suspect that they will take down their poster gallery? A: Because first of all, if I were them I would, because it is 100% verifiable evidence of what I showed! Second, I am now locked out of it. For the past 2 days, everytime I try and go there my IE has an error and closes. I have cleared my cache, cookies and temp files all to no avail. Lastly, I am not going to try and convince anyone of anything. I have provided the evidence and I fully realize that this information is ONLY going to reach individuals who have the willingness to truly examine it. I provide information on 20+ bands!!! I don't think some of them were as bad as you made them out to be. The one example that stands out to me is Killswitch Engage. I think your evidence here is shaky. First, The "devil horns" is not necessarily evil, it has plenty of other meanings. In metal circles it is kind of a "I'm metal" symbol with a "ha ha Satan" vibe perhaps. Second, you used the lyrics of a band they toured with. They may not have control over who they tour with. And you should have used that band as evidence instead, they're coming to Rocketown also. Third, their song titles reflect the world we live in, a world in which Satan has great power and influence as I'm sure you would agree. The few lyrics I'm familiar with seem to be uplifting at times. Fourth you did not bring up the fact (if only to knock it down or to say its not important) that their first lead singer was a Christian. Fifth, I saw the current lead singer on Headbanger's Ball. He had such a gentle, jovial spirit and couldn't stop laughing. I'm not a fan of their music (pretty good but not going to get the CD) but I liked the singer. Thats not really evidence. So that's one band, so making my opinion "not as many as the OP stated" true in a technical literal sense, at least by my evidence. I assumed there might be others that you weren't as familiar with where your evidence may have been shaky as well in your zeal to present as strong a case as possible. Perhaps I assumed wrong or should have prefaced it with an "I suspect ...". None of this changes or lessens my concern about this issue. Rocketown is clearly marketed as a safe place of ministry for teens and clearly there are bands playing there whose lyrics are inappropriate for that setting to say the least. I'm not as outraged as you are and feel that ignorance may be the culprit and a little bit of due diligence would go a long way into fixing this. To go back to the comparison with Mr. Haggard I do not think Mr. Haggard was unaware of the Bible's admonitions against homosexuality or the dangers of doing meth, to himself or others. Their ignoring you is not a good sign though ... I hope they address this.

I could care less if people point out "signs of occultism" or "point out the increasing evil of our times." It's your time you can do with it what you want. I do however think it is silly when people present this stuff like it's some kind of satanic ruse, that we have all fallen for. Like Michael W. Smith fooled everyone since 1983 (and apparently conspired with a known satanist like Alan Parsons, the eye in the sky indeed.(sarcasm)) just so he could hit our unsuspecting youth with "satanic" groups here in 2007. I further think it's silly when this is treated as a "smoking gun" type situation. And by the way I would wager that none of the bands featured on the blog are actually satanists and are most likely laughing at the notion that they have gotten under people's skin. People that is who would post a Jeff Godwin style blog on the subject and present it on a ccm message board as a "shocking" revelation. The vast majority of that stuff, is for shock value and shock value alone. You can basically (not counting Norwegian black metal) count real satanic bands on one hand. There's Deicide and....well Deicide.

I used to play my LP backwards with my finger on my turntable to listen to that intro! WHTim-- I assume you have severe difficulties taking in much Scripture reading...as much of it deals with those very subjects-- signs and indications of the encroaching (spiritual) enemy...and what to look for in the 'end times'...how to discern those times. Bible study must be a rather uncomfortable process, no? I will also attest to having repeatedly run into indications of covert (or sort of covert) occultism in the 'Evangelical' world. And there is, after all, this pesky, annoying scriptural advisory about "wolves in sheep's clothing". Maybe God hasn't yet gotten the memo that Christians have now become too "cool" to worry about covert occultism and occultists. God must be behind the times because He seems to be sticking to His guns about this whole "hidden wolves" thing. Go figure. Yeah, I have come across a whole bunch of these people...and while I (for a number of reasons) draw up short of authoritative and dogmatic conclusions regarding most of these individuals...there | | | |
