There doesn't seem to be a lot of pizzazz to this draft since the best players are linemen. Matt Ryan is apparently the best QB on the boards, but nobody is really vying for him. They'll take him if he's available. It doesn't sound like it's a good draft class for WRs either. I like that the Dolphins locked up the first pick w/ a pre-draft contract. The whole deal btw JaMarcus Russell holding out last year was a joke! They should have a rookie salary cap b/c these guys should EARN their $$$!! I doubt there is any way that will be approved any time soon. It won't even be on the table as the owners begin to re-work the bargaining agreement.

I'm a Redskins fan. I'm glad that our owner has downplayed the free agency this year in favor of the draft. (That's probably b/c we're so over the cap!) I'm hoping Coach Zorn is really steering this ship in the right direction...like we all wish Joe Gibbs had done.

Both Spurrier and Gibbs are great coaches. That tells me something else is amiss, possibly Mr Snyder.

No argument that the Redskins have management issues b/c the owner likes to use this team as his fantasy football team. Spurrier is a great college coach, but I don't think he would've succeeded w/ any other pro team. You'd think that Gibbs would have changed things around, but he totally bought into Dan Snyder's way of doing everything...giving up draft picks for has-been free agents...then overpaying them! That's what gives me a little hope about Jim Zorn as the new coach. They haven't been reckless in the free agent market. Maybe he has brought a little common sense to the front office. As much of a loud mouth as he is, I think the Redskins made a reasonable offer for a NEED position when they offered first and third (conditional first) picks for Chad Johnson. It seems like fair market value for a proven WR. Maybe they'll go back to their old ways tomorrow and make a foolish offer for Chad Johnson. After all, you can't let the Cowboys or Eagles get him! Denver has benefitted GREATLY over the years from the foolishness of Dan Snyder.

Darren McFadden is the best player in the draft, too bad he's not smart enough to stay out of trouble. I'm more excited to see what Felix Jones does. I'm an Arkansan by the way...so this draft is pretty exciting to me. I'm a Cowboys and Colts fan. I'm not real sure why Jerry Jones went after Pacman...same last name maybe? TO didn't get enough negative press last year? I don't know. I am glad to see the Patriots lose key players however. They epitomize evil in the NFL. I'm not a Belichick, Moss, or Brady fan. Speakin of football, I can't wait til Madden 09 comes out.

Hi Single4Life I agree with you about a rookie salary cap. I had this conversation the other day with a coworker. I told them they need to prove they can paly with THE BIG BOY! Let them earn the money, maybe build some incentives into the con tract. By the way I am a DIE HARD Browns fan. I like what they did picking up the two defense players. A fox news person is given the Browns an A+ on this years draft base on this and getting Quinn last year. GO BROWNS

ORIGINAL: D3kkerfan Jags fan here too. After drafting two DEs early on, an LB, a CB, and an RB, I believe they scored very well. Now they need a third-string QB. I don't know...is Garrard really the QB of the future for the Jags? I don't really keep up w/ them, but isn't he kinda up and down? Everything I've heard is that Jax is close to the Superbowl! Redskins draft was pretty good! I liked how they traded out of the overpriced 1st round to pick up TWO 2nd rounders...who apparently are valuable WRs. The TE from USC, plus a good punter is not too shabby!

I'm a Carolina fan (since 1995. hehe), and I'm pretty happy about our draft picks. I still have some concerns about our team, but give us another year or two and I think we'll be strong.

Well my team (Vikings) did great in the draft! We got the 2nd best Safety available in the draft, as well as John David Booty from the Trojans.

I understand Belichick (he cheated and got what he deserved, if he / they cheated more he'll / they'll deserve more) and to some extent Moss (what would he have to do for people to think he's redeemed) but Brady? Why all the Brady hate (not you in particular)? I'm not crazy about his choice in girlfriends (they look great and all but two supermodels?) but I've never seen anything but class from him. Unless this is just "football hate talk". The Pats drafted OK, the only major loss this offseason was Samuel but thats a big one. And they didn't make any big signings. I don't think they'll do nearly as well as last year. Losing in the AFC championship game makes a team mad and itching to go at it (like the Pats ended two seasons ago). Losing a Super Bowl when trying to do something only one other team has ever done is incredibly disheartening and I'm not sure they can recover from it. quote:
A fox news person is given the Browns an A+ on this years draft base on this and getting Quinn last year. I didn't realize the Browns were a Republican organization. I'm just hoping some more compelling "storylines" emerge. Football wise storylines like "will the Pats recover from their near miss at perfection. How about this: are the Giants more like the team that went on the Super Bowl run or the team that struggled at midseason. Football storylines not soap opera like storylines..

I am a huge Viking fan! We had a small draft (5 picks), but we had an amazing off season. Acquiring Jared Allen, Madieu Williams, Bernard Berrian, and a few others. All of the pieces are there for a great team. My one concern is at QB, if Tarvaris plays consistent, the Vikings will win the NFC North.

The Steelers are cool. I've been a Packers fan, I used to switch off between them and the Vikings because they are in the same division, and that made my Dad and brother mad, LOL.

My brother was the Vikings fan. We were at each others throats when the Raiders beat them in the Super Bowl. I was a Raiders fan then. They (the Vikings) have had a competitive team always. I don't think their players rap sheets are that long either. I can't wait for the season to start. Hockey will be done soon and then its a long hot summer of nothing but baseball which bores me to tears. I follow the transactions and off season news but nothing beats game day!!!
