I have noticed recently that there has been an increase in books being published attacking Christian beliefs. One of the accusations I saw on the cover of one of these books was how silly it was for Chrisitans themselves to sacrifice and expect others to do likewise, the here and now for something that may or may not happen in a sense that they would be better off as if they believed otherwise.

What have we given up as a result of our faith in Christ that we now count as gain?

For me it was my career. This was important as it came between me and God. Don't get me wrong, I still work and make money but I work to live and not live to work.

Right now the enemy is aligning its self as it launches attack after attack against the church and all we believe in. Christians have to stand in unity so we can fight the good fight and hold on to our faith.

This is an excellent question, Terryjohn.

For me, it's a million little things: the snappy comeback that's funny but not edifying, the sarcasm that's fleshly, etc. When I got saved I gave up profanity, but that was God's doing, not mine, as I had tried to quit as a non-Christian and discovered I was enslaved to it. I gave up a guy who wanted to marry me but wasn't saved (last I heard, anyway; I've prayed for him for years so who knows what God has done), and now I'm married to a wonderful, godly man. I gave up (and gave up and gave up) my anger at parents who abused me and never had a clue there was a person inside the little body; God is still dealing with this in me, and maybe I won't see the end of it until I see the Lord face to face. But by God's grace my own kid was not abused, and the family in one generation is totally different, thank God!

Same here.I am a very sarcastic person and aleast once a day God speaks to me about it and reminds me to be careful what I say.I am slowly learning to let God speak through me,and not my own stupid flesh.

American Christians know next to nothing about "sacrifice". We have had it so easy for so long that we are poorly equipped to deal with adversity of any kind.

I fear that is about to change; if not soon, at least in our lifetime. The enemy is flourishing as we stagnate in our do nothing churches and our double lives.

I know this sounds disparing and maybe it is. I just cannot ignore that the pages of the Revelation are available in our news headlines and we blissfully ignore the signs of the times.

There was aquestion asked a few years ago: If accussed of being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict us? For many, I'm afraid not.

The 'good' news is that our Father chastizes His own. I pray that America survives our woodshed experience.
