Time for a little fun.

When you proposed to your now-wife or were proposed to by your now-husband, did you promise anything/were promised something?

I know one guy who asked his love to marry him and he'd build her a stone house. Another guy agreed to let her put him through graduate school (I'm not so sure she should have accepted ).

My husband promised to be good to me, and that was music to my ears!

What happened in your proposals that helped convince you/her?

Oh goodness, I feel this one may get me in trouble.

I asked him to start going to church with me on a regular basis if I married him. He said yes, of course. Nice way to start a marriage when you're not even going to church together on a reg. basis? Warning Will Robinson!

Well God is not done with either of us for sure. Good question, though.

My fiance of mine told me he'd buy me a Mustang. This was is when they came out with the new models in early 2000's. Funny thing is I really didn't want a Mustang.

Did you get the car?

Good question, deermousie!

Let me think.... I don't remember him promising me anything other than to love me each and every day. That promise he's kept!

I honestly don't remember any specific promises he made. If he did he's kept them all. &:) I promised him that his heart would be safe in my hands.

I promised my bride the earth, sun, moon and the stars.

Still working on it...

No. I laughed unintentionally when he told me that. I couldn't help it. I was like "yah, right". Besides it would have really been a bummer to have to give a car back after the breakup.

When we were newlyweds, living in a two-story apartment with a little patio and tree in the back, he clipped a light on the edge of the roof (!) and gave me "moonlight" filtered down through the tree leaves.

It may still be there, for all I know. It said, "I love you" so clearly!

My wonderful DH promised to love me, lead me, protect me, cherish me, and always point me to Christ. (And he's kept that promise!)

Oh, and I got a Mustang, too!

I think being with the other person for life should be the only convincing you need.

There were no promises exchanged during the proposal, but he did say "I see my children having your eyes." We're 1 for 2 on that count. My son has my eyes, but my daughter looks like a female version of her dad. I've had people jokingly question if my DNA played a role in her at all.

He promised to always be faithful, move to my home because there wasn't room for the animals or to build onto his house so we would all fit, and to always do what ever it takes to work out any problems we have.

He broke all three promises within 3 months of the wedding.

Too late for me... Of the three kids two of them have my eyes and one has hers.

I did tell her early on though that I thought she'd bear beautiful children.

Once again I was right.

Same here. Even the pediatrician mentioned it.

Funny how cars showed up here. DH didn't promise me a car, but as soon as we got married he tried to give me his. I respectfully declined (heavy car and no power steering = hard for a woman to drive). His heart was in the right place.

Creationtalk, I'm so sorry your husband was a vow-breaker; you deserved far better.
