My last 2 digits of my SSN are 02. I signed up for direct deposit, which means I should have gotten it Monday.

I found out that I won't get it until at least June.

The reason? I didn't get a refund on this years taxes.

Mind you, what I did owe has already been paid, and they acknowledge that they got the money. On time and everything.

What they told me was that, for people who got refunds, their stimulus checks follow the schedule posted.

If you owed money, even if you have paid it all, you have to wait until after May 30th.

I said "Wouldn't you think that people who owe money need the stimulus check FASTER than those who got money back once already?"

It's quite irritating.

Where did you find that information? We had to pay taxes this year as well, and I was not aware that we would get our stimulus check later because of that.

I called my Accountant this morning, and he had some line that Accountants get to use (I don't even know the number, he did a 3 way call). We connected to an agent in about 30 seconds and she gave us the info.

Hmmm....I looked on the IRS site and can't find anything that mentions if you had to pay taxes, you will get your stimulus check later. I do see if you filed closer to April 15th, your check could be later, but no reference to whether you had a refund or not.

I received a small refund that was direct deposited into my account. My SSN ends in "01". I did not get the rebate yet. However, for the first group (those whose SSN ends in 00 - 20 and had their refunds direct deposited) should get their rebate deposited into the same account by Friday.

They are sending (electronically) about 800,000 per day Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. They are not sending any Thursday and approximately 5,000,000 on Friday. I'm really not expecting mine before Friday.

Don't you think that it may be becuase, if you had to pay, you obviously did not have direct deposit?

My understanding is that if you had direct deposit, you will get your check early.

If you did not have direct deposit, regardless of whether you got a refund or not, you will get your check later, according to the original schedule.

Actually, on the 1040 Tax around line 74 or so, it asked for the banking information, which I provided as my accountant recommended. That info WILL be used for direct deposit, as per my phone call today. We just still have to wait until after May 30th to get it. But they will direct deposit the funds at that time.

Hi, Galilee!

Actually, I wouldn't think that. If I got money back, that means I had a lower income that someone who had to pay (usually), so I would think that those who got refunds, by and large, would need the money more than those who had to pay taxes.

Maybe I am looking at it wrong, but that is how my mind works.

(PS--we had to pay, too.)

A refund of taxes has nothing to do with lower v higher income. It has to do with your tax liability on whatever your income was and what you paid through withholding or estimated taxes. The financially wise try to keep their tax payments consistent with their tax liability.

As income fluctuates, this can be challenging. But it (tax refund/tax payment) is not indicative of the amount of income.

The refund date also depends on who was listed as head of household. Our daughter thought they would get their check on one date but then was told since SHE was the head of household (main wage earner), it would be released according to HER S/S digits.

That being said, her last two digits are 17 and her daddy's is 18 and neither of us have gotten our stimulus money. All of us got refunds via D/D.

No, you should get it by Friday, according to the IRS site. They started doing them Monday, but "by Friday" is the date for the first bunch of direct deposits. We've not seen ours yet either, and it's supposed to be this week. Still two more business days...

The rest I don't know about, but unless you waited until April to file, I don't see why it would be delayed. I did not read anything like that on the IRS site.

I don't care when they deposit ours. We're still annoyed that we had to take the money and it's not getting spent anyway.

I am interested to see if we get two checks, though. We got two cards in the mail saying we were getting a tax rebate and one of them was addressed to my maiden name. I didn't file a return under my maiden name, so there's a mistake somewhere. I already called our local office and they said to wait and see if a payment was made to us twice, that the postcard might have been the mistake, not an actual payment.

I thought if you paid taxes you didn't get a rebate. Oh well..Im still not counting on one..but if we do I am quite sure it is going to go towards sponsoring our next missions project.

I stated in another thread on this topic it is starting to get a little scary how people are planning their spending around a check they don't even know when they are getting.

We got ours today! Good thing, too, since we'd already bought just about everything we'd planned on buying with our rebate money. <blush> It would not have been a good thing if it hadn't shown up after all.

What is irritating is the mismanagement of government. All this is is debt disguised as aid. Our federal debt is into the multi-trillions on paper (it's actually a lot higher). Interest payments on our National Debt is currently our 3rd largest expense, but will soon be our largest expense. God, I pray for anyone with grandchildren. Everyone complains about spending money on social programs (or schools, etc.), but nobody seems to care about wasting it on interest payments (paying the devil back).

This rebate does nothing but put America further into debt. Most Americans are not going to save this money and they're not going to pay off individual debt with it. We're encouraged to spend it, and spend it we will. Thinking we can spend our way out of problems is a sickness. Individual debt is actually going to increase and our collective debt will increase also. I know there are a lot of Christians in America, but America a Christian nation?? Come on now, be honest - who do we really worship??? Let's ask the question, who benefits from debt? What does it tell you that the "greatest nation" on earth is in fact the "greatest debtor"?? From a Christian standpoint, does anyone else find this troubling. Of course not - to admit something is troubling is to admit something is wrong. People like to be right and it's much easier to accept that others are wrong.

That's not what I've heard. I think everyone who's annual income is less than $75,000 or $150,000 for a couple is getting a rebate. I also didn't think it mattered if you paid or got a refund when filing.

Fits right in with the majority of society. And that troubles me even more.

How do you think it will be solved? We will continue to print more money. The dollar will continue to be devalued. The debt will continue to pile. Until there will finally be a dollar collasp. Worldwide economic collasp. Then a new currency. Possibly a new government. The hard times will make the depression seem like joy days.

That happened to me too. I didn't get an extra check though...not that I expected to. It was just kind of funny that they sent me more than one notice....

Did you end up with an extra check?
