If you could control the TV world, what new channels would you like to watch.

I would like a channel called Masterpiece. It would rerun all the best shows from Masterpiece Theater, Mystery, and shows like that. I would love to see things like Upstairs, Downstairs; Mother Love; By the Sword Divided; Tale of Two Cities; The Woman in White; and so on.

I would also like to watch The American History Channel. All shows about US history, like the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, the Cavalry years in the west.

The Craft Channel. All kinds of crafts demonstrated.

The Warner Brothers Animated Channel, featuring unedited Looney Toons, Merry Melodies, Animaniacs, etc.

Bring back the Westerns Channel!

A news channel that is just that, the news. Tell me what happened and where but leave out the commentary, the interviews with somebody's third cousin twice removed, the bewildered neighbor who is going to tell you how quiet the guy who buried 72 bodies in his back yard was, and any political biases. To borrow from Sgt. Joe Friday, "Just the facts".

That's a good idea. Just the news, no "experts" arguing and trying to outscream the others. And, no Barbie doll anchor women, and no Ken doll anchor men.

How about a Christian Channel that demonstrated a bit more imagination than endless preaching shows or shows with people sitting on couches.

Why can't Christians produce decent comedies, dramas, action shows, etc? We've shown it can be done with shows like Touched By An Angel, Promised Land, and Seventh Heaven...no wait, those were all done by major secular networks...never mind....

One of the biggest reasons we don't see more of this boils down to bucks. My B.A. is in broadcasting and believe me, cheap programming doesn't come much cheaper than two people sitting on a couch, a simple backdrop behind them, and being framed by a static camera. To make "entertaining" shows would cost many times this, and right now, I guess the money--and the will--just isn't there.

I would like to see a TV channel that showed the older action type TV shows. Shows like Emergency! and Adam 12 come to mind immediately. I have been watching a little of those 2 on-line. On those shows you never had to worry about who knows what showing up. They focused on the characters jobs not their personal lives. Also the plots were more beleivable. The new police and fire shows seem almost unreal they go from one major incident to another. If you talk to real police and fire fighters they don't do nearly that many major things in their entire career. The older shows were much more true to life with a number of minor incidents in a day.

I agree. I dont watch Christian Channels because they are such a bore. Seriously, I'm all for good preaching but sometimes I want a little entertainment and not preaching 24/7 (or begging for money)..though some preaching IS pretty entertaining.

There was actually a bill in the works to allow us to this, but it either got defeated or lost in committee. There's even a catch phrase to describe it, A la carte programming.

If that happened, I might be willing to go back to watching more TV again.

The Fireplace Channel--like the Crackling Fireplace Video for Christmas, but with regular music, or you can play your own music.

I sure would like to be able to make my own package like Miss Giggles suggested. Number one station would be an all SOUTHERN GOSPEL MUSIC Station. I think there are some in parts of the US, but not where I live. I would only want Southern Gospel like the Gaithers, EHSS, Karen Peck, Booth Brothers, and so on. No contemporary "gospel" - they need their own station.

But since I have over 100 DVDs of Gospel Concerts and all of the Gaither Homecoming DVDs, I can play my own station all day long.

I'd like a sci-fi channel, a real sci-fi channel. Oh, they could play some fantasy shows as well. But no wrestling and no reality shows.

I'd like one that showed cartoons from the 30s, 40s, and early fifties. All the WB, Merrie Melodies, Walter Lantz, Popeye, and so on. Uncut and unedited, of course.

A whole craft channel. All crafts all the time. We don't have enough crafts on TV, at least on my TV anyway.

A channel that would show The Ed Sullivan Show, unedited, with all the old commercials, and all other really great variety shows. There were a ton of them.

How about one that showed all old music shows? American Bandstand, Music Scene, Hullabaloo, Shindig, you know what I mean. All uncut.

I remember Peggy Fleming saying she did a skating show on TV once with her costumes designed by Bob Mackie, the one who designed Cher's costume's. I've never seen it, not that I remember. I'd love to see that. I'm sure there were other shows like that, that were only on once or twice and featured some stars. How about all the Bing Crosby & Andy Williams Christmas shows? I loved watching them every year. Those would be on a channel or channels that I would definatley love to get on my TV.
