This song has been on both the Billboard Gospel, Christian and R&B charts for a number of weeks now. And the reason why this song has appealed to everyone who listened to it is because the words are meaningful, something that you rarely see in Christian music these days. He wrote this song after he lost family members and now this song is an anthem in both the church and out of the church because of have people experienced and how they never would have made it without the help of the Lord, whether it is a loss or something that people are going through. Then too, the author of this article which will be linked wonders now as a result of this song, is the secular marketplace now ready for the gospel message, meaning words which point people to Jesus and not the "family freindly radio stuff" (no offense to those artists)which is the exception in both gospel and CCM? Urban gospel has always had a place among the secular audience to a somewhat limited extent and I think the reason for that is because so many R&B and even hip-hop artist have had at least some exposure to church and view it as part of their upbringing despite not having made a commitment to follow Christ. But IME, gospel has typically been a more explicitly Christian form of music than CCM.

My pastor, who lost his mother and father within this past year, sings it with conviction and the whole church goes into praise or tears, or in my case, both! Amazing that Marvin almost left it off of his project. He'll be here in the L.A. area (Compton) next week. I would be going but I have a previous commitment...DARN!!!
