I can answer both questions in one word; 'people'. The body Jesus Christ is a place where one can find consolation(and be a consoler), confess(and be a confessor)and find a confidant(and be a mentor). The disappointments I've found are generally in my own expectation. That's not their or the church's fault in fulfilling my expectation.

The best part is the empathy that we share. And the fact that we can all agree and confess the goodness of God

I've often marvelled, during worship at my own church and those times that I've gone to large conferences, at the thousands of people, all on one accord, worshiping our God. It's an awesome sight!

My own post in the M&E folder got me to thinking. As I stated there, I visited a secular marriage forum and couldn't stomach some of the conversations(nothing was blatantly vulgar) unless you consider the mind and thoughts of the "lost." One post was titled, "Should I tell my wife that my girlfriend is pregnant?" I told my husband how much I really appreciate this Christian forum despite our differences, and debates. There is a huge difference between those who profess Christ and those who don't even though it's painfully apparent that we're not perfect.
