I wondered if it was common for unmarried women to pray for their husbands? Of course I'm referring to the person that God has designated on your behalf. For those that have done this, please share your experiences. Thank you.

I do believe it may be uncommon, but maybe not as much as I think. I can honestly say though that I credit my husband's salvation at the age of 28yo to the many MANY hours my mom spent on her knees praying for MY future spouse every day of my life!!! I do not doubt one bit that it played a huge roll in him getting saved and us finding each other and being married. Prayer really does change things and people....I think it allows God to have authority in a situation that ultimately He does have authority in, but He chooses to not rule over in our lives. It sets up a path by a believer for that person, whoever they are, and on their behalf before God. Not just in dealing with the issue of them being saved though....that was how mine was, but I still believe fully in the power of prayer for someone else, even if you don't have a name and face to go with that prayer.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I believed that the Lord was leading me to do the same, but recently began to question if I was in error instead. I can state that the prayers have grown and I feel a real connection to this person, although I cannot say for certain if we've met. Whenever I think I should stop something always pulls me back. It is refreshing to know that your mother was committed to your future happiness in this way. I'm pleased to hear that her prayers were answered.

My parents prayed for my spouse (if I was indeed suppose to marry - they never pressured me or made me feel I had to) since I was born.
Somewhere in my teens I started praying for my future spouse too.

I pray for my future spouse daily, (whomever he may be). There's nothing wrong with it and in fact it has been recommended to me many times over the years. I can't wait to see who God brings me and see if he did the same for me. *grin*

I've prayed for the future spouse of my son; not daily, but from time to time as I think of it and am lead of the Lord to do so.

I pray for my future spouse where ever he is. I don't do it on a daily basis, but just when ever it comes to mind. I also have wrote letters to him. Most of the time it is dealing with my desires to meet him and get married and start our lives. But I have noticed that it helps me keep things in perspective. I can write my struggles to him and then when he gets the chance to read them (after we are married of course) he will be able to see what all I have been through to keep myself pure for him. Again, this isn't something that I do on a regular basis, but just a couple times a year or so. My parents have been praying for the spouses of their kids for years. We are all waiting to see these prayers answered. (I only have one brother that is not of marrying age. All of the other 3 kids are at the age to get married, though not all of us are at the maturity to get married (maybe that is why we haven't yet ))

I prayed for my future spouse. Not all the time, just every once in a while.

I married the man I prayed for.

I do. I pray that God bring the man into my life that he sees fit and that will help me continue on in the ministry. I don't find it selfish at all. I find that if you involve God in more aspects of life the better off it is.

I've started doing this recently. I don't want to analyse why.

We pray for our dd's future spouse(whoever he may be), his salvation, his purity, his prosperity, etc. Not daily, but whenever we feel led.

Thank you for responding. I began to wonder if this was a little odd. I sincerely appreciate your honesty.

I've been praying for my son's spouse since he was born (22 years ago). When he found her, he knew immediately she was the one. Since they've been engaged, they've had struggles with her parents. It's been a great blessing to both me and my son to just sit back and embrace the struggles, as we both know they are in Gods plan. I've prayed for her parents, her upbringing, her experiences, so as they go through these things, my son knows that God is in control and He already knows about them (the struggles) and they are for a reason.

I also prayed for my husband before we were married. I had a copy of "The Power of a Praying Wife" and used it to help me remember various areas of prayer. I'll admit that at the time I began praying I did have this particular man in mind ! But I told the Lord that these prayers are for my future husband, so let them apply to whoever he may be.

My husband and I have also prayed for many areas of our unborn son's life, including his future wife. If God puts the burden on your heart, by all means pray.
