I recently found this game on facebook and I love playing it,but there is a part of me that feels like I should not be playing it since it deals with something wicked. Do you think it's wrong to play such a game ?I wonder if it is having a negative affect on me. I know that everything we see and take in has an affect on us rather that be positive or negative. Thoughts anyone?

My mom always told me this.. if you feel bad about doing something, even if it seems innocent, then chances are, it's not good for you and you should stop. The fact that you even posted this tells me you want to and should quit playing vampire wars.. as fun as it may seem.. there are a lot of fun games on facebook that can replace that one.. Try rollercoater kingdom or farmtown

I've been playing Vampire Wars out of frustration with Mafia Wars. I can see why some things might make a Christian uncomfortable, but it seems like for every demon you get under control there's an award called something like "I Can Haz Trophies." So I'm positive the game doesn't take itself seriously. I gave it up after a week and went back to my mafia family.

Being an old fuddy duddy, I feel there is better use for one's time than playing fantacy games that may invoke all kinds of unGodly thoughts in a person.

This would also apply to watching "Desperate Housewives", "Sex in the City" etc. on the TV.

Thanks
RC

If part of you feels like you should avoid the game because it deals with something wicked, then by all means stop -- and find something else to do.

That's good; something else to do, like feeding the hungry, spreading the Gospel, etc. etc.

Thanks

The one thing about games like that is that Facebook tends to publish that you are playing those games on your profile. There are certain people on my friends list that I wouldn't want to know if I was playing a game like that, even if I though it was just a game. I figure it's better to avoid things like that.

You can totally turn off the notifications of any game, though.

Yeah, but sometimes finding all the right settings can be tricky. I don't like having to be always watching what Facebook is saying about me to make sure it's something I don't mind people seeing, so I figure it's best to just not do it in the first place.

Um, given the fact that vampires aren't real, what would there be that would grieve your spirit so?

I personally don't see anything wrong with playing a game unless it becomes an addiction.

But you should ask yourself why it bothers your conscious.

Is one of those things like why some Christians won't go see Harry Potter?

A lot of legalistic thought as well as common sense advice thus far. It is the spirit of what we do. Temporal things have the capacity to work as easily for good as for evil; our heart gives it its bent. Eternal things work and are only for good.
Whether or not vampires are real does not matter. To say "It's only a game" is to overlook spirit. That is letter-thinking.

If you don't like it, don't play it.

I don't have a problem with things like that, personally.

I'm sorry, but to get one's self all worked up over something that is completely fictional seems a little useless....
