Janine, what a sweet, sweet thing. People sometimes think that romance has to be flowers or candy or jewelry, but sometimes, to me anyway, it's just knowing what you need and providing it without having to be asked. That's romantic to me.

Same with you, car2ner. What a sweet, giving thing to do!

Amen Mamajenn! I agree!

I love this thread. It's nice to have a place to brag about my husband and read others joys.

While driving me home from the doc's today (flu), I fell asleep. When I woke up, I noticed he was driving to Boston Market to buy me some mashed potatoes, because he knows I love mashed potatoes when I'm sick.

DH had the day off yesterday and spent just about the whole day catching up on housework--tidying, vacuuming, sweeping, doing dishes, etc. We had been planning to do it together when I got home from work, to leave him time to organize the office, but because he knew I was tired and sick he did it all himself.

Acts of service are not my usual love language... except when I'm sick! And yes, I thanked him... profusely, and often.

He called me from town to ask where my proof of insurance was... and I thought it was in the glove box - but alas, it wasn't. My head was hurting from a migraine and he knew it so he didn't get mad or push the point... he just said he'd do it tomorrow and drove all the way home. When I got my car back... the tank was full of gas.

I was at home sick from work, and when he came home, he had a fountain diet coke for me. He had stocked up the fridge with cans the night before, but still brought me the fountain anyway. He knows that they taste different, and that fountain is my favorite. He's always taking such good care of me.

I agree with the fountain drinks...they're so much better. That was sweet of your DH.

We came back from a fantastic vacation where we cast aside our frugal ways and splurged (not enough to go into debt though). We had a wonderful time.

That's awesome.

Yesterday dh offered to take me to Sonic AGAIN (2 hour drive). I told him that he was going to spoil me. He said "I like spoiling you".

Then I told him he was making me cry. LOL.

I graciously declined the offer.

FunBetty, that's so sweet!

DH is travelling to Paris on business; yesterday he called from a shop where he was trying to pick out clothes for me. He'd asked where he should shop for me, and I had told him to check out a store we don't have in town (but I have tried on stuff there in other towns so I know how they fit). His descriptions were just so cute. "Well, there's this sort of purple-ish, greenish sweater..." which turned out to be a purple-and-green striped sweater. When I asked if the stripes were horizontal or vertical he said "which is which?" LOL Next time I'll send him for something easier to shop for; he's never bought me clothes but it was sweet to see him try so hard. And very nice to get an overseas cell phone call just to ask whether I'd like what he picked out.

That is priceless. It is like men not wanting to know anymore names for colors than the original crayola classic eight.
This is a charming story

Speaking of crayola colours, forgot to mention that when he was describing another shirt he said "Well, it's sort of like reddish purple." I said "burgundy?" and he said "Yeah! That's it!"

He's got at least one burgundy shirt hanging in his closet. I married him for his wonderful heart, not his fashion sense!

My husband has always been thoughtful, but since I've been pregnant (6 weeks), he's been even more sweet. Telling me to take it easy and offering to help even more than usual, being even more affectionate because I've been emotional and needed it, never tiring of me talking incessantly about baby stuff and bodily changes and things that most men would be grossed out about. He even watches "Deliver Me" with me and sometimes he even tears up a little when the babies are born on the show. Awww.

My husband makes me melt because he puts up with me on days when I feel like an epic failure as a (step)mom. Even when the days aren't so rosy, I can't help but love him.

When I woke up he was just getting some fresh, home-made bread out of the oven. He's a gem!

(There's a book called "Artisan Bread in Five Minutes" that's no hype but true. Get your hands on it if you like fresh bread - it's so easy! No kneading)

That book may not be good for our health...we LOVE carbs! lol. But that was so sweet.

After a crazy morning, my hubby interrupted his even crazier morning to bring my my cell phone and a tv dinner for lunch (both of which I forgot).

So for tonight I'm going to surprise him with one of his favorite meals - Pizza. From the store, of course. I won't have time to cook as I'm giving a sermon tonight at youth group.

A couple of nights ago, my husband came to bed shortly after I did. I was already drifting off to sleep and was glad when he turned off the bedside lamp. Then he turned it back on, and I asked "why?!" kind of whiny because I was sleepy. He said he just wanted to look at me because he felt like he hadn't seen me enough that day. So he looked at me lovingly for a moment and then turned the lamp off again and snuggled in for the night. I love him.

m'love and I went to a church service at a nearby statepark. It was a beautiful blue sky happy cloud sky, the temperature was perfect. We had a good service and a yummy potluck lunch and went fishing. After about an hour on the lake I got stung...we packed up our gear and the canoe and came home. He is now fishing in the lake behind our house. He's a great guy.

This has been a couple weeks, but I'm afraid the post will be long, so I've been putting off writing it up. I'll try to be brief.

My dad was placed in an assisted living facility a few months ago. He lives, as he has always lived, in Virginia; I live in Indianapolis. But after he was put in the nursing home, I said I wanted to go to see him, and said I wanted to go when the kids had fall break from school. My husband agreed to take me, saying he knew I needed to go. He took five days off from work to take me to Virginia. He was very caring and considerate during the whole trip, sitting with my dad when I wanted him there, and taking the kids and leaving when I thought all the extra people were too much for him. The trip was also about memories. One of the days we were there, we took a drive into the mountains, to the place where I grew up. He drove the route he knew I wanted him to drive and told me to tell him if we came to anything I wanted to take pictures of. From the time he said it, I didn't see anything I knew I wanted pictures of for a while, and when we came to something that evoked strong memories, I'd forgotten he said it. I delightedly called out the name of the church we were passing. He pulled over and stopped. The church was so small and old it didn't even have a parking lot. My dad had pastored it before I was born, and I had simply caught a love of the place from my family. I had never been in a church service there. But anyway, we got out and took several pictures, and then got back into the car. Then we went on until we came to the house I grew up in until I was 14 years old, and is sort of considered our family home, though it was sold in 1978. He stopped to take pictures and my kids walked down the road a very short way to a big rock that was sitting beside the road and climbed on it. I said I used to play on that rock, and he took pictures of them, too. Then from there I looked into the back yard of the house and saw that because some things were gone that used to be there, I had a clear view of The Big Rock. Now The Big Rock is not the same as the big rock the kids were playing on. The Big Rock is actually much smaller, but it was our rock, and a special place to my siblings and myself when we were kids. So my dh started to take a picture of it, but decided, since he didn't have his zoom lens, that he could take the picture better from another angle. We drove to another spot, but we were disappointed. The people who live there now had planted a row of small trees very close together and they stood between the road and The Big Rock, and we no longer had a clear view of it, even though we were much closer. Not to be deterred, my dh walked right through the trees and into the backyard and took a few pictures. I said "You're totally trespassing now!" but he did it anyway, just because that rock was special to me, while I and the kids hung back and made jokes about paparazzi. We made jokes, but it wasn't lost on me how sweet he was being to do such a thing for me. Afterward, he spent a couple hours with the laptop, downloading the pictures, as well as other pictures we already had, and creating a slide show for my dad. My dad has dementia, and it is pretty advanced, and it's hard to tell what he's thinking, and it's hard for him to talk. But he kept asking me where we got the pictures, then forgetting my explanation and asking again. And he sat and focused on them for a long time without getting agitated. We had a great afternoon because of those pictures, and I am so grateful to my husband for doing that for us!

Dont you just LOVE kind and godly husbands??? We hear so many bad stroies these days about marriages and women speaking badly about their husbands its SO good to read these things.
I am blessed to have an amazing husband also.
He isnt the most romantic man in the world but he loves me to bits and does all he can to make me happy.I feel safe and secure with him.I feel loved and wanted and totally accepted by him. Shame I had to wait till I was 48 before I met him. lol

DH had back surgery lately, and he feels so guilty about letting me do the housework that I've had to scold him for trying to help. He's supposed to be resting flat on his stomach as much as possible, and his back is so wonky, he hurt it while trying to make the bed. The poor dear feels so bad to be waited on that he wants to help me help him... so sweet.

I think he really does believe me when I say I'm happy to help him in any way I can, though. Esp when I say things like "Don't you dare touch that basket of laundry! You're not supposed to life anything!" Poor sweetheart.
