Ok have decided to have a BBQ next month and am inviting quite a lot of people to it, question is when it comes to a BBQ i don't have one yet so am looking to get one thats not too expensive but quite easy to operate. Am not sure about the differences between a fire pit, charcoal or gas (other than you press a button on a gas one) BBQ. Can anyone give me some ideas please. Also any ideas for vegi recipes, without using nuts or seeds.

I think what you want to do is Grill, not Barbecue. Grilling is done over relatively high heat, direct and done quickly. Barbecue is done ove low, indirect heat and takes many hours, but results in extremely tender meat.

It sounds to me like this is going to be a one time deal, so unless you're going to be using it a lot, I'd recommend buying the cheapest charcoal grill you can find and a bag of Match Lite briquettes. By the way, how many people is "a lot"?

If you plan to use it often, I would go with gas. It's easy and fast and very little clean up. I use special chips to get a smoky flavor.

I use a charcoal grill, and use wood charcoal instead of briquets. burns hotter, longer, and gives a better taste. Royal Oak makes it, among others.
