how do you know its god putting something in your heart.i know you gotta test it by the scripture. but what if you feel like your heart is be told something thats gonna happen. how do you know when its from him or not
|

If it is God speaking to you He'll confirm it allright ... you'll just KNOW it is Him.

One of the best ways is to be familiar with the word of God. God will never tell you to do something that violates His word.
They train bank tellers to recognized counterfeit money by having them handle the real thing. So when they get handed some counterfeit, it just doesn't look or feel right, even though they might not be immediately able to identify why or how. It works equally as well on scripture.

You learn from mistakes. When acted on something that your thought was God and it was evident that it was not, you then become more sensitive to His hand.
We all get tired of waiting and we all step out then step in a hole.
God wants us to be sensitive to His movement in our lives and if you want this sensitivity, you get as close to Him as you can.

I agree with all these comments. I think it's part of why God emphasizes a relationship with him. When you have an actual relationship with someone you recognize their voice, you know when they're talking to you, etc... The same is true with God. The more we work on building that relationship, the easier it becomes to recognize when it's God speaking to us, or when it's our own desires speaking to us.

I also think that God most often speaks more quietly. The devil and your own intent can be louder more urgent and abrasive than God. When

I have come to learn that it is when I have complete peace with the decision. Not that I understanding everything about the decision I am making, not that I have it all figured out, not that I received a neon flashing sign from God, but when I have a peace in my heart that it is the right thing to do then I know it is from GOd. This has never failed me yet... he is the prince of peace. HOpe this helps, Sarah
