Thanks, y'all :) It's feeling better. Still a bit sore, but nowhere near as bad as before.

How is everyone?

Hi Kimberly, I am doing ok, just getting tired now. My local top rated radio station let go of a couple of people over the past weekend and are now doing some syndicated stuff instead. While change is interesting, this is the first nail in the coffin for a heritage radio station here.

One of my favorite stations is all automated now, and I don't listen to it anymore. Don't they understand that live DJs are the best? The station is Y92, where Paul Robbins and Phil Cowan used to do the morning show. They were the top-rated morning show in town for well over a decade, and I miss them. Good clean fun, always family friendly and interesting.

My opinion is that radio should stick with live DJs, but what do I know? All I know is that I really dislike the station now, with some robotic female voice saying the name of each song and artist. I do like the variety, though, but not enough to deal with no live DJs.

I'm getting tired, too...

We have 2 such stations now: one that I really like because of the wide variety of music, and one that is just fair and pretends to be a station for the listener instead. Its a bad trend in radio, but cuts have been happening all over radio these days though.

Hey Kimberly ... saw this thread in active topics and thought I'd say hi. And guess what? After I bought "The Negotiator" more than 5 years ago I read it again (found the receipt in the book from our North Carolina trip) and now I am checking out the other parts of the O'Malley series from the library. Better late than never! I read "Danger in the Shadows" in one day and am starting on "The Guardian."

Diane, you won't regret reading the entire "O'Malley's" series. Kimmy got me hooked on them years ago, and I got my mother hooked. We both thoroughly loved them! I know that you will, too.

I'm glad we don't have automated radio stations. Not that I listen to radio stations much these days.

But they could already be automated and you wouldn't even know with the technology that they have these days.

I'm glad you liked the book, Di :) You're in for a wonderful treat catching up with all of Dee's books. My favorite is The Healer, which focuses on Rachel.

It's been more than 5 years since our trip to the Outer Banks? Time sure does fly. I also found out that Logan, Sheila's grandson, just turned either 7 or 8...I recall him being born! Wow, I've been here a LOONNGGG time!

Hi Duane! Long time no see :) How are you and Mary?

Hi Trish :D

True, unless it's done as poorly as Y92.

I'm thankful for K-Love, still has live DJs :D

Maybe live. A couple years ago Matt and I went to Knotts Berry Farm on New Year's Eve and "The Fish" station was broadcasting "live" from there. Except it turns out the DJs did all their talking at once, recorded it, and then played it clips of them talking after every few songs. Lame. They were saying things like "1 hour til midnight" at 9 PM. (I was standing right by their booth)

I am utterly curious as to what that was all about...was it right when you got engaged or something?

Yes. Around the time when Kimberly got engaged I changed the title of her thread from "spring is in the air..." to "love is in the air..."

Whassup, "Queen Froggie!" It has been a long time since we've crossed paths in here, but I'm glad to see that you're still around. I trust that you and Andrew had a wonderful Christmas together.

In answer to your question, Mary and I are doing well. It was a very trying year for the two of us, what with her Dad's 2 strokes last January - and our subsequent moving in to take care of him - my Mom's health problems, and finally, her Dad's death on Nov. 8th. But through it all, God was ever faithful to us. Our relationship, which could have taken a major hit, actually grew stronger. The big key for that was our refusal to go to bed angry - we always made sure that any tiffs were taken care of before the lights went out.

I'm going to make a Post to my Blog soon, so I won't go into great details about the rest of the year, but I want to share my Christmas present to myself with you: on the Monday before Christmas (Dec. 22nd), I went to my Weight Watchers meeting and found out that I'd made it to my biggest intermediate goal . . . . . . . . . . . .

I'd lost 100 pounds!! And over the holidays, I dropped another 2-1/2! Isn't God good?! I can hardly wait to see how close to my Goal Weight that I get this year!

Talk to ya' later, Kimmie!

Duane

That's awesome, Duane! Congratulations!

I've heard K-Love and KSBJ. Before the sound went out on the computer, I used to love listening to them.

Our local Christian radio station still has DJs.

Congratulations, Duane!!! That's awesome :)

Hi Catherine. I'm pretty sure K-Love is live, but maybe not. Who knows with how radio stations are these days?

Hi OneofHis Jewels :) Welcome! Yep, the change to the thread title was made around the time I got engaged, thanks to Catherine and the rest of the loonies who post here :)

You live in California? I do as well, here in wonderful Sacramento. I do love this city, and enjoy the weather, most of the time.

Hello again, Duane. I'm glad that you and Mary are doing well. Andrew and I had a relaxing Christmas, no rushing from house to house to try and visit all the family. It was nice.

Hi Kath, Shar-Mar, Bill and Trish :) Nice seeing you here!

Life is getting busy for me and Andrew. He's doing a lot of overtime because the company he works for is short-staffed. It's a bummer, but it's necessary in his mind so I don't want to stop him from doing that.

I'm going to be beginning Donna Partow's "Becoming the Woman God Wants Me to Be" 90 day jumpstart now that I've finally received the book in the mail.

Andrew and I will be attending another Perspectives course, this time as helpers. We plan to go to all the sessions so we can get a refresher on the course and learn more about what God is doing in world missions. I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am to not have to do the homework or project this time!

I'm also going to begin attending a short-term small group book study through our church. It's going to be based on the book Peace Child by Don Richardson. He's also the author of Eternity in Their Hearts, a book about how the "Old Testament Hebrew culture yielded abundant metaphors foreshadowing Jesus. So do Gentile cultures! Starting with the incredible story behind Paul's discovery of that "altar to an unknown God" in Athens, we move to tribes that honored places of refuge and even a "scapeboat" instead of a "scapegoat." Missionary use of such analogies helps awaken response to the Gospel."

That's going to be very enjoyable!

I'm also part of the women's ministry team now, and we have a retreat coming up in May, so planning for that will be stepping up very soon.

All of this on top of my regular Wednesday night small group and Sunday at church.

My current temp assignment (which started on 8/1 last year) is still going strong, but is being reviewed very soon to see if the company still needs me. If not, this assignment will end and I'll be waiting for another. I have mixed feelings about that. On the one hand, I enjoy the stability, and the company is very pleasant, and it's not that far from home, but on the other hand I'm getting very bored with data entry. It's not challenging at all, which is the source of the boredom, I think.

I'm praying and leaving this in God's hands, He knows what is best and will give me what I need to continue at this assignment if that's His plan.

Well, gotta run, I need to do a few things before I go pick up a couple of people for the bible study tonight.
