Hi Rachael! quote:
uncabeeil I'm good. Busy at work, doing a whole lot of nothing at home. Looking forward to cold weather, although this summer has been cooler than normal (thank you Jesus!). How 'bout you? I haven't been doing a whole lot myself, Bill. My depression has been worse this year than before and it takes all my energy to just stay "sane." I seem to be extremely vulnerable to the smallest of stressors and my body's response is to shut down. My mind shuts down too. Still, there have been some good times. Last weekend was a small school reunion (only about 40 people including spouses and some teachers). It was great to see old classmates, some of whom I haven't seen for 38 years. In May I spoke at a Women's retreat and loved it. That's something I could do full-time, it was so much fun. But it took me many days to recover. We've had a cold, wet summer. Today is a nice one so I'm sitting on the back patio, enjoying the trees, flowers and my computer with the occassional entertainment of dh and other neighbour guys on the garage roof nearest to me trying to trim a very unwieldy tree.

We're still getting some tomatoes from the garden...the squash and lemon cucumber are done, but the tomatoes still have some life left in them. I plan to plant some cauliflower soon. We have a seed packet of an heirloom variety, with white, green and purple cauliflower. I love that stuff! As most of you likely know from reading in Shar-Mar's thread, I'm going to begin school a week from tomorrow. I qualified for federal funding which covers my entire tuition! Woohoo! I'm also the new owner of a purple Dell Inspriron 15 laptop :P I'm ready for school! I'd better get some stuff done, I need to leave in a bit to go pick up Andrew from the church prayer meeting.

I'm still getting maters, too. In fact, my 2 grape tomato plants must have close to a hundred flowers on them still. But I don't think they'll get a chance to develop since it's not supposed to break 70 after today. But I'm very happy with the ersults of my little garden this year. It kept me in tomatoes for the past two months and even had enough to give some away (I haven't forgotten you, Shar-Mar, just waiting).

I remember with the rain y'all had, that there was a slow start to things this year. quote:

I don't know what the 'proper' way is, but here's what I do...heat up some olive oil in a saucepan, not too much, about 1-2 tablespoons, and then I rinse and slice the tomatoes and put them in the saucepan, simmering them for a long time and adding italian seasonings. Once it's cooked down a bit, it's done. A very nice addition to spaghetti sauce. Yes, 700 people is a HUGE guestlist. Good thing it was just a dream :P I've been cleaning and organizing the living room and dining room today, it's nice seeing progress. I want to get some stuff done before school starts next Monday. You like the look of the blog? I fell in love with that template :) I think it's gorgeous. Now to be sure I have content!

All the talk of tomatoes makes me excited about mine. Even if at this stage I only have 2 on the plants so far.

2 is better than none. It's been in the 60's or lower all week, so I think my tomato days may be done for this year. Time to pull all the green ones off the plants and sit them on the window sill to ripen.

That sounds like a carbon copy of ours, Bill. I can't decide whether or not to break out the undershirts.

I love winter, but I know that Catherine (Cinderella) doesn't--especially at the beginning of October.
