That would be pretty! What time of year would you go? Even summers down there can be cold. Then again, a couple of years back, I was surprised when Tazzie was having bush fires. Other side of the state than you're wanting to go to though.

How's everybody doing? Are you enjoying the warmer temperatures?

Hi everyone, Trish and Kylie,
well it is certainly sometime since I was last here (17/12/2008 to be exact). So how are you all? Well I hope.
Everything is routine here - same as last year(s). Oh except I have left the Senior Citizens forawhile. So catching up on computer work (mainly photography) and watching TV - what is worthwhile anyhow.
Also had a great group trip last year to Thursday Island - cargo boat from Cairns, Fabulous. Even managed to get lost in the daintree for a day - no crocodiles got in my way and dramas at all.

Well that is all from me now. Hope to check in again before computer goes down as is their habit.[&:]

Buddy

Buddy, hiking in the Daintree is one of my dream holidays.

We recently hiked for a few days in Canarvon Gorge which is just spectacular. I'm guessing our next holiday will have to be a beach location though. Dh and the two kids are beach bunnies, not so much my scene, and most recent holidays have been my type of destination not theirs.

YAY! There's movement among the ranks!

Buddy, so good to have you back! So glad that you had a good time on holidays.

Sounds like you guys have been getting around quite a bit on holidays.

One of these days I'll get to go on holiday.

In the meantime, my brothers were over from the Gold Coast last weekend. Got to show them around Perth.

I hope you guys manage to get in here more. It's been kinda lonely in here.

McGuinessMagee -> RE: Calling all Aussies and Kiwis and their admirers (11/14/2009 11:44:54 PM)

I get holidays this Christmas. i'm taking 6 official days off work but because of all the public holidays I get 16 days off.

That's excellent! A decent holiday. Will dh have the same amount of time to take off? Any ideas of how you'll fill in the time?

McGuinessMagee -> RE: Calling all Aussies and Kiwis and their admirers (11/15/2009 1:06:52 AM)

Dh has the week leading up to Christmas and Boxing Day. After that he has no work booked in as yet but has planned that he will be working.

Sounds like you're all going to get a nice period of time to relax. Sounds good to me!

cherish405 -> RE: Calling all Aussies and Kiwis and their admirers (11/15/2009 11:31:23 PM)

Kylie, have you been watching this year's Australian Idol? They have a guy in the final 2 named Stan Walker. He's living in QLD now. He has the most amazing voice and is a born again Christian. I hope he wins. I'd be buying his music! He's only 18.

His opposition is only 17. She's a rock chick. Not my kind of music at all.

McGuinessMagee -> RE: Calling all Aussies and Kiwis and their admirers (11/16/2009 3:08:42 AM)

I've been skipping in and out of Australian Idol this year, just not capturing my imagination.

Kylie

I didn't see all the auditions etc, or even all of the initial picks of the top 24 and top 12. I've seen most of the shows.

I have to admit, I've liked Stan right from word go. His voice is just something else! It's handled everything they've thrown at him. He's a born again Christian, and doesn't mind praising God on national television.

ausme -> RE: Calling all Aussies and Kiwis and their admirers (11/17/2009 6:50:17 AM)

Hi all,
I watched Australian Idol this week. I liked a lass going by the name of Hayley?. She has great potential and could even become our Ella Fitzgerald if she sticks at it. Also a guy with "Australia" tattoed on his neck could replace our own Gus Someone-or-the-other - The one who did a tour of memphis earlier this year which would have done wonders for his jazz style. Sorry I'm not real great on names[8|]. I reckon those judges do a marvellous job in developing artists.
Well, allowing for time differences, I reckon I'll say goodnight to you all.

P.S.
My typing hasn't improved- I simply spend more time correcting it !!![;)]

Buddy

Anyone heard from AmyMelissa?

cherish405 -> RE: Calling all Aussies and Kiwis and their admirers (11/21/2009 12:23:23 AM)

YAY! I get so excited when I see movement in this thread, and it isn't me that's moving it along!

Dave, I've been wondering the same thing. Haven't heard from her in months.

Buddy, yes, the two finalists on Australian Idol are Hayley and Stan. I'm not so keen on Hayley. She's more of a rock chick, which doesn't really do anything for me.

Stan does have a tatoo on his neck, but it doesn't say Australia. It's Maori, and the word translated into English means 'beautiful'. Or so I heard. My Maori isn't up to scratch. I never did well in that subject at school. Even the non Maori people were better than me. (I was last in my class). [&o] How embarrassing.

Stan is more of an R'n'B kinda guy. I grew up listening to a lot of that, thanks to my brothers. Personally, Stan's my choice for winner.
