Ok, I'm not usually the type to start threads (I think this might be my first self-started thread here, actually!), but I've been umming and arring about starting one around here in the hope of getting to know the blokes and sheilas around here (bloke = man, sheila = woman) a little better.

It took me a whole week to come up with a title, and I even had the kind folks in the Singles folder on the task!

The last minute brainwave however saved the day.

I'd just like to say g'day to everyone here.

As for today, church was great. There really is something birthing in our church atm. Had some great chill time with church friends at a local Thai restaurant after church. The food was GOOOOD! Best Thai I've tasted, actually. And good conversation.

I have no set purpose with this thread (though as I've said, I'd like to get to know some of you a little better). You can, however, expect me to post the occasional set of lyrics in here just to see how people react (Mods: don't worry, nothing dodgy, and nothing with existing copyright. Unlike most I have actually READ the TOS!!!)

Hey Cammo! Nice to see the thread....

I guess you should tell us what things you would like to know about us, and I'm sure we'll be happy to oblige.

Hi Cammo!

Love the thread title and it's good to see you with your own PFY thread.

What's happening at your church sounds great. Praying that the Lord will do great things there!

I went to church last night and it was great as always and afterward I invited my sister, her husband and her 3 kids to go with us to Starbucks (it's our after church routine ) and we had such a good time. Before we left they suggested the most awesome thing. They want the kids and I to go on vacation with them next summer and they are offering to pay for the hotel. I was staggered by the suggestion, it was so unexpected and sweet of them. I don't know if I'll be able to take them up on it but it was very, very nice to be asked.

I'm not fussed. As long as it doesn't break the TOS, it's fine.

Like the title says, it's a casual convo thread, so just let it flow. There are things that I don't want in the thread, but they shouldn't be an issue. Should they come up, however, I'll make the point.

My intention is to build better friendships with the people here. So healthy, Godly conversation's the order of the day.

I'm not intending this to be a very specific thread.

There's a Gloria Jean's that's a couple of streets over from our church. We often hang out over there before church. I'm sure we're the only thing that keeps it open after 3pm on Sundays. They close about an hour after church starts!

BTW, I don't drink coffee. I'm a tea drinker and I also like my iced chocolates (Yes, even in winter! Can you say BRAINFREEZE? ).

LOL - gotta love brain freezes!

Maybe we should tell a little about ourselves, for those who don't know from the Singles forum....

I'm 45, never been married and live in Florida with my elderly parents who are 85. I moved back home from NYC to be with them almost a year ago. A month after getting home, mom had a mild stroke. She's recovering nicely, but is now beginning to have dementia set in. My father takes care of mom and now my brother. I'm the only one who works.

There are lots of other things in my life, but that's a start.......

Yeah, thankfully it doesn't get so cold here in Sydney. We don't get snow - in fact, you have to drive a whole 7 hours before you even SEE the stuff in winter! Parts of the Blue Mountains get occasional snow (they're just west of Sydney. Definite proposal material). There's a very good reason they're World Heritage listed...

I just read your whole thread up above (I unfortunately have the tendency to read the first few lines and then post away).

My grandmother has Alzheimers. Early stages, but you can definitely tell it's there.

My grandfather passed away not so long ago, and he had Parkinsons (btw, I've managed fine. I told him I'd pull through. I have).

Anyway I'm going to bed. I feel really off all of a sudden (nothing to do with the convo topic. I think it's just cause it's about quarter past 3 in the morning here.

Feel free to chat in here while I'm asleep, folks!

Hi Cammo! I see you finally got your thread up! Woo Hoo! Fun isn't it? Well to continue the tradition, I bring you a "housewarming" gift, some brownies from the island. Enjoy!

How are you today? Me, I had to wake up at 6:30 a.m. to clean my studio. We got folks coming to look at the place. Since I have church and since I worked in the evening last night, I had to rush. Oy! I hope I will be able to focus in church today. Ha. Help me Lord please...

Hey Cammo! You finally got the place up and running! Cool!

Blue Mountains? Been there. No snow at the time though, but it was jolly cold!

That's awesome that your family have offered to take you on holiday with them. Any ideas where you'll be going?

Hi, Cammo!

Okay, quick intro so you don't have to go read my blog to figure me out.....

I'm 46, widowed, two grown daughters. I am a part time student (working on my AA, and getting ready to transfer to a four year university as a junior), and full time housecleaner.

I sing. Lots. With a choir and a band.

I suppose I should do the introduction thing too, even though we've already talked in the past. It's written in my blog too, but I won't make you read it unless you want to.

I'm 37, single, not working or studying due to health problems.

Temperature wise it's about right in Summer. But yes, in winter it's quite cold.

I know this first hand - I decided I wanted to head up there one day on my own. Mind, this was when I was about 10 to 12, folks, and the Blue Mountains would be about 100km from here by road or train (that's about 62 miles for those who use the rather antiquated Imperial system )

Today I'm feeling much better. I don't know what it was last night. I guess I just needed sleep.

Hey Cammo! Hope you had a great day! I had a great day today. I finally got my iSight webcam for my iMac G5. Woo Hoo! I love the Apple store. It's like a toy AND candy store for me. Hehehe.

Trishy - you're funny about the Apple Store. I'm actually like that with B&H Photo - kid in a candy store. And I thought men were the ones who were supposed to be all excited about such techy things.....

It's 4am my time - I slept so much this weekend that I'm wide awake right now. As you say, Oy.....

Full of men, I'm sure, right? That's funny. Glad you got your stuff - aren't new toys fun? I'm getting teased about my new one.....he keeps asking if I've had time to play with it yet.

Yes, I'm almost certainly getting a new computer for my 21st (which is coming up in a matter of weeks). None too soon I might add. This one's waaay behind

(Read: 1.5GHz, 256MB SDRAM, GeForce FX 5200, with a 40GB HDD that's half full. Can't remember the FSB speed).

But it ain't exactly a fast thing!

On the bright side, at least it has a CD burner.

I'm looking into a laptop, personally, though it'll almost certainly be a Windows computer (as much as I like the Macs, there aren't any Mac laptops at a decent price with a decent video card). They're hard to come by even in Windows laptops (most of them use the Intel stuff, which ain't as good).

Cammo - that sounds great! And don't feel bad - my system at home is worse than yours. I had less than 20GB on my hard drive and that was on 2 drives. I had to buy a 160GB external to store my photos, as they take up a ton of room (I shoot large files for my professional stuff).

Let us know what you get........

Will do. I think I've found the one I'm going to say I want. Also found a store that's at least viable to visit (it's walking distance from a train station and I've noticed the prices aren't too bad).

I know there's actually one not far from TAFE (I guess you'd explain TAFE as a technical college) but I haven't been in there, and I'd look kinda weird walking in there with a backpack on .
