Yes, but is that a good thing to have on your resume?

You: "I posted first on the Benny Hinn thread".
Other: "Um....yeah, look. I'm going to stand over there now."

P.S. I hope you have a good sense of humor!

I was watching TV once, and there was a commercial for "coming up: The Life of a Pastor" I had no idea what it was or who it was, but I was like, hmm, wonder if this will be interesting. Then this verse immediately came into my head

Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
Matthew 7:22-23

Then I watched the show and found that I thought he was pretty self-promoting, and really didn't agree with alot of the things he did. He seemed shady to me, and like he had something to hide. BUT, only God can know the true heart of a man, and a friend's mother came to Christ at a Benny Hinn conference, so it's a tricky subject I'd say. But you won't be seeing me signing up for any Benny Hinn conferences or reading his books anytime soon.

Its best to take what bits are godly, biblical and edifying from his ministry, but be discerning and don't take everything he says and does on board, esp. prophecy and some of his teachings. However, that being said, he is capable of doing a decent sermon and I believe that his healing gift is a real one. I don't believe the guy is perfect and I do think that his guests spend too much time praising him rather than Jesus. I do believe some mistakes are made and people are not healed, but these do not invalidate a ministry.

And congrats to Graham on being the first poster on this thread. Keep it going there mate.

I think that's a pretty fair impression. I'm not sure how much of that is due to his cultural background but good things do still come out of his ministry, all problems aside.

That is so the truth. I know a lot people won't agree with me for the sake of being compromising, but Benny Hinn makes me nervous. All the Word of Faith Ministers make me nervous....oops...I just made a lot of enemies! I actually went to TD Jakes Church once and he said that he was going to write his own bible, God would leave you and on his tithing envelopes he had the tithe, offering and first fruit as giving requirements. Isn't your first fruit apart of your tithe....hmmm??

I hold Benny Hinn to be indirectly responsible for the breakup of my family for reasons I will not discuss here. Suffice it to say that I would not recommend that anyone listen to him.

This is my problem with most televangelists that I see who take the TBN route not just Benny. It just gets old filtering everything out. I find men like John McArthur and Chuck Swindoll much easier to listen to: I just filter out the cessasionist teachings.

I watched benny Hinn for ten years. That was eight years ago. I do not follow his teachings, and have seen and heard things that were very wrong. No one has to say I was influenced, i saw, and heard. As I grew in the grace and knowledge of the lord jesus Christ. I relized things. i am not saying he does not love the Lord, I can not judge his heart, he seems kind and stuff, like he loves the Lord. I just wish people would ask the Lord for wisdom, and read the scriptures and test what he says. I am no way bashing him, I love him as a person, just hope people are careful with his teachings.

That's right. I will not listen to anyone teach or preach (whether live or on TV) unless I have my Bible in hand. Benny Hinn is so Biblically unscriptual, it's usually quite easy to identify his false teachings!

Why did you nearly fall backwards?

I used to watch Benny Hinn, but here lately I just can't seem to get into his show anymore.

I would think that it would either be from sheer disbelief at the total disregard for anything the Bible says, or from laughing at his syle of hairdo - or both.

I hope I never have "preacher hair."

I believe Benny has been proven a fraud so many times that the onyl ones who take him seriously are the lost and the weak.

We are all lost and weak Bro_shane . That is why we need Yeshua in the center of are lives to give us strenght .

As far as Benny Hinn this man loves money more than God . He sevres money not God . Years back dateline had a show on mister hinn . He clams he can heal people in the name of Christ , but yet this show proved that people that went on the stage were not healed . If you listen to moody radio there is a women that lives in a wheel chair she went to mister hinn for help they put her with all the others like her and never called on one of them . Why not ? If the man could heal in the name of Christ then why would he negelect these people ? Why wouldn't Mr Hinn be going to Hospitals and helping the little children and adults in them that call a hospital a home ? I can tell you why first they won't be able to give him money , second because he can't ! It is sad that people put there faith in him , and others like him instaed of God . The man lives in a millon dollar home he's a joke and a fraud . He's one of those people who will be standing outside the gate saying I did this , I did that , in the name of Yeshua , and Yeshua will say to him I do not know you . I hope that this man and others like him that will say they can do something in the name of GOD FOR MONEY will wake up , and quit giving people fasle hope , and repent , and turn back to God .

Bro-shane

Why do you think he is a fraud?

Because he preaches a prosperity gospel, and has said that if you are sick you do not have faith in God. In fact, he has said that no one will be raptured form a hospital bed. He also said that Christ would appear, physically, at one of his rallys. He can't ever get his salvation story straight, he belived we are "little Gods," and it is almost impossible for him to use scripture in context.

To me that spells fraud. I'll also call "apostate" as well.

I'll be the first to admit the weakness of my flesh, but I am not lost. I also am spritually strong enough to know the Gospel when I hear it, and smart enough to know what it means when it's not there. My comment was to show that he preys on these people instead of giving them the true Word.

Judeslice - Amen, and Amen. I firmly believe that healing by touch ended with the Apostles, and that Benny Hinn has no more power to do so than I do. As for his worship of money - I will see if I can find a link to a news story within the past couple of months about a revival he was involved with in Africa, and how angry he was that his ministry LOST money during the campaign.

Uh I would have to argue with the healing touch ending with the Apostles. However, I do question Hinn because like stated before, he seems more worried about being in the eye of the TV screen instead of going where the need really is. In that respect, I have way more respect and admiration for Mother Theresa. She didn't claim to heal any one but she did try to alleviate the suffering.

To Brother Shane,
I agree with you there, and if one is ill they have no faith, then there's a lot of us Christians out there that would be totally lost. And that's not the gospel; Jesus came to heal us as well as being our salvation!

I believe Hinn is a charleton and a Fraud.

What about the scripture that says one of the signs of a believer is that "if they lay thier hands on a sick person, they shall recover"? I can point you to the exact verse, but I don't have time right now. I know it is in the gospels and were words spoke by Jesus himself. The scriptures also state that we shall do greater works than Jesus, which one of his works was laying hands on the sick and they were healed.

I assume you mean these verses:

And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover."
(Mark 16:17-18 ESV)

These signs were performed by the Apostles, as a display of God's awesome power, to convince people to believe in Christ.

Barnes' Notes on v. 17:

Mar 16:17 -
And these signs - These miracles. These evidences that they are sent from God.

Them that believe - The apostles, and those in the primitive age who were endowed with like power. This promise was fulfilled if it can be shown that these signs followed in the case of any who believed, and it is not necessary to suppose that they would follow in the case of all. The meaning is, that they would be the result of faith, or of the belief of the gospel. It is true that they were. These signs were shown in the case of the apostles and early Christians. The infidel cannot say that the promise has not been fulfilled unless he can show that this never occurred; the Christian should be satisfied that the promise was fulfilled if these miracles were ever actually wrought, though they do not occur now; and the believer now should not expect a miracle in his case. Miracles were necessary for the establishment of religion in the world; they are not necessary for its continuance now.

In my name - By my authority, and using the power that I would in such cases, if bodily present. This was done; and in this they differed essentially from the manner in which Jesus himself wrought miracles. He did it in “his own name,” and as possessing original, underived authority. See the account of his stilling the sea (Mat_8:26, etc.); of his healing the sick Mat_9:5-6; of his raising Lazarus, John 11. The prophets spoke “in the name of the Lord.” The apostles did likewise, Act_3:6, etc. There was, therefore, an important difference between Jesus and all the other messengers that God has sent into the world. He acted in his own name; they in the name of another. He wielded his own power; they were the instruments by which God put forth the omnipotence of his arm to save. He was therefore God; they were men of like passions as other men, Act_14:15.

Shall they cast out devils - See the notes at Mat_4:24. Compare Act_16:16-18.

Shall speak with new tongues - Shall speak other languages than their native language. This was remarkably fulfilled on the day of Pentecost, Act_2:4-11. It existed, also, in other places. See 1Co_12:10.

Just my humble opinion!
