Status: offline 		I'm sitting here grinning from ear to ear. After just getting home from a bad trip and having tomorrow being the one year anniversary I really needed this. Whether the thread ever gets posted to ever again doesn't really matter to me. Knowing that you all thought of me enough is a blessing that I'm not sure I can even live up to.

(The situation really calls for a really, really bad pun but I'm just speachless. So I'll go out on a limb and assume you all loved the prior stories. I'll try not to get too nutty or fruity though because I wouldn't want you all to leave)

I'm glad to see that you're back safely. What made the trip so horrible? Did you get to enjoy some seafood? Was your little cutie-pie happy to see you again? (Is her name Autumn, or am I imagining that?) Did she recently lose a pair of pink flip-flops? I found a pair recently. Am I asking too many questions?

Me too. While I do love to travel I hate to travel alone. It's hard enough to behave at home let alone on the road. But by the grace of God I was very good on this trip. Except for eating. Oink Oink Oink.

Here's the story of the trip. We had a one day (4 hour) meeting in Sd that we had to have a rep at. Everyone else in the office was booked so I got tagged. (they very seldom let me out of my cube). Fly out Sunday, fly back tuesday. One four horu meeting thereforee eats three days of my time. yuck.

So the Sunday flight was supposed to take off at 3:50 from Indy. At least I got to go to church first. I get to Indy aand get to the gate. Sit down amongst a large group of people and rest my eyes. I run to the gate and ask if we are still boarding. The guy says sure go on in. I find my seat and look at my watch. It's 4:20. We're already 1/2 hour late (thank God at this point).

So the plane moves from the gate and get's out to the runway and sits, and sits and sits until 6:00. Which by itself wouldn't have been bad but the plane from Chicago to SD was supposed to take off at 5:20. Needless to say I missed the flight to SD.

They got me on standby on the 8:20 flight (9:20 my time) which was delayed about an hour to 9:15 (10:15 my time). We took off at 9:30. Got to SD 4 hours later. (It's now 2:30 AM my time) got to the hotel at about 4:00 My time. Way Way way past my bedtime.

I don't know about you all but when I get tird, especially on the plane, I get headaches. I had a doozy by now.

Get in the room and I'm too wired to get to sleep ARRRRGH. Finally nod off and wake at 4:00AM their time (7:00 my time) because I'm used to being awake at that time.

Get to the meeting 1/2 hr late. Absolutely no info was passed that they couldn't have emailed me. I stood up said I'm John_O and my program and sat down. One rep from the ship came over and shook my hand and my time there was done.

Well not to waste time near a beach even if the trip was useless I went down to La Jolla Shores beach (which I highly recommend) and walked the beach end to end. My feet were blistered from too much walking on the sand (I never seem to learn this) and I got a sunburn (again, I never seem to learn).

The trip home today was at least uneventful. But I would have rather stayed home

Couldn't find a decent restaurant anywhere. I stayed in La Jolla just a few blcoks from the UCSD campus (ugly campus. Looks like and industrial park, The engineering building looked like a water treatment plant.) Area was very packed. Had to drive about 5 miles to even find a McDonalds (I gave up on anything else)

I have a bad habit on travel. I usually try to buy a bag of the local potato chips. Got some there called Kettle Brand. They were all burned. The whole bag. (BTW the best potato chip made today (if they still make them) is Gibbles. (made in Pennsylvania I think) Grandma Utz's are second)

She was overjoyed. As was I. Amazing how much I missed the little stinker. I snuck in while she was watching TV and planted a kiss on her cheek. She lit up like fireworks and was wried until she fell asleep in the car on the way home. (BTW I'm amazed at your memory for details). I don't think she lost any pink flip flops but she'd claim them if she could. (Size 10)

Status: offline 		I didn't know for sure if jokes were allowed in your forum ... but then I remembered you were the King of Corn ... so ... to help lighten your mood ... (I thought it appropriate because of you foundness of redheads.)

A man is dining in a fancy restaurant, and there is a gorgeous redhead sitting at the next table. He had been checking her out since he sat down, but lacked the nerve to talk with her.

Suddenly she sneezes and her glass eye comes flying out of its socket towards the man. He reflexively reaches out, grabs it out of the air, and hands it back.

"Oh my, I am so sorry," the woman says as she pops her eye back in place. "Let me buy you dessert to make it up to you."

They enjoy a wonderful dessert together, and afterwards, the woman invites him to the theater followed by drinks. After paying for everything, she asks him if he would like to come to her place and stay for breakfast the next morning.

The next morning, she cooks a gourmet meal with all the trimmings. The guy is amazed! Everything has been incredible! "You know," he said, "you are the perfect woman. Are you this nice to every guy you meet?"

"No," she replies, "you just happened to catch my eye."

Status: offline 		OK. Since It's my thread (thanks to you all) I'll give you a small glimpse into my world.

As you know I'm a recent widower. One year ago today my Michele went to heaven.

Here's a link to the prayer request thread that was posted on www.freerepublic.com This link takes you to post 129 where I responded and filled the people in on what was happening. (have tissues ready though)

I've only got one picture of my Michele on the computer here. She always loved being near me. I used to come home and find her wearing my shirts cause it made her feel closer to me (and she looked so cute in them too). At the time this pic was taken we were remodelling the kitchen, bath and dining room. I was working in the dining room where the picture was taken from and it's easy to see where she was.
