Hey John O I haven't been here for a while but I decided to check out how your read through was doing..........
I noticed yesterday you read sos.......which is ironic because today I read it at lunch........I was curious to read it since I have been thinking alot about what a marriage relationship/ an intimate relationship looks like lately.........and though I didn't remember much from the book I knew it was about love and intimacy between two people.........
I was curious when you read it, did you see God as the lover or the beloved?
It is funny for some reason I always thought I was the beloved and God was my lover when I read it........I saw it as an example of what my relationship with the Lord should look like just as the marriage relationship is suppose to reflect our relationship with the Lord........
It was strange today.......as I was reading I began to see myself as the lover and God as my beloved...........it really changed my perspective of the words I was reading.......it was powerful..........
Have you read it from that perspective? As though God is your beloved and you are his lover speaking to Him? It definitely opens your eyes to a new perspective and make your heart beat faster..........to think I am God's lover and he is my beloved.........hmmmmmmm it really powerful change of mindset to see it that way........
Anyway when I noticed you had recently read the book I was curious if you saw yourself as the lover or the beloved..........

Hey Joy! Thanks for dropping in. The Lover is the male part of the book so naturally I see myself (and God) as the lover.

I stumbled across this the other day. (Those who attended the GT will fondly remember that I sang "They're coming to take me away ha ha" for karaoke)

I was walking along Virginia beach today (I got about 3 miles in. 1.5 in the water and 1.5 back on the street) and watched as they were getting ready for the rock n roll half marathon and the accompanying music festival this weekend.
They had a huge stage set up. And some performer (I never got the name) was up there doing a cover of "purple rain". Badly. He was wailing it more than singing it. You could call him the prince of wails.
Further along I found some huge depressions in the sand where it looked like something had been dragged into the ocean. The lifeguard tells me that they had a pair of small humpback whales beach themselves earlier in the week. Quite an amazing thing as it was a bit further south than it should have been. They think they may have become disoriented on the way north and got distracted by all the shipping off Norfolk. So anyway, the depressions came to be called the prints of whales
Seeing as I've gotten a bit older (but still have my boyish good looks) I've started doing a little more investing. Planning for my future.
So I started playing with futures just a little bit. Made some money on sugar and cocoa. Lost some on pork and cattle. But the best trades I made were in soybeans.
I noticed that soybean futures lagged wheat futures by about 6 weeks. So when the wheat went up I'd buy soybeans knowing they'd go up too. After a few trades I was quite a bit ahead.
I had quite a sum of money tied up in soybean futures when Wheat took a big dive. Surely the soybeans wouldn't drop like that I thought. I hadn't seen it happen yet. So I stayed pat with my soybeans. Of course they drop like clockwork 6 weeks after the wheat did. I lost everything I had made.
Now I know not to go against the grain!
In High school I played a little bit of Tennis. I was getting to the point where I was getting pretty good even. So I entered a junior city tournament (actually I was pushed into entering it)
I played well but my opponent played better. I lost the first game, game to love. In fact I was shut out the entire first set to love. (Remember, tennis is strange, theydon't have zero's they have love)
It was a horrible day. I didn't score a single point againt this guy. 6-love, 6-love. Lost two sets and the match.
I was by far the worst player there. How humiliating.
But it didn't end up too bad. One of the coaches there noted that my racket was old and beat up and suggested that I upgrade my equipment. He liked my strokes but I had no power. "I can't afford a new racket I told him"
"That's OK" he said, "take this one" and he gave me a new Slazenger racket. It was beautiful and really helped my game.
the second worst player in the tourney lost 6-2, 6-1 and got nothing but experience.
So I guess what they say is true, It is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all.

One of the recurring themes in my posts lately has been loneliness. Great moments for singles are very few and far between because I'm alone during all of them.
Especially when on the road like I've been a lot lately.
Well tonight it just went from lonely to down right ludicrous. I went for a walk along Virginia beach (which was OK) had a hagen daas vanilla ice cream cone (which was OK but probably too many calories) Went and ate Chinese food for supper and them came back to the room.
Watched an episode of Star Trek on CBS.com and kind of loafed around here. Trying to think of something good to do. Basically I was alone all day.
So I get a phone call on my cell phone! at 10:50! Hooray!! which chnaged quickly to bummer. Wrong number.
No more than 20 seconds after hanging up I get a call on my other phone. HOORAY again. Bummer again. Wrong number.
Sometimes you've just got to laugh.
Ah well, I'm off to read a little and then go to bed. I get to go home tomorrow. (I could just be down cause it's been overcast the whole time I've been out here. It's supposed to be sunny at the beach!!!)
