Happy Birthday, Pengie!

I'm so glad your husband helped to celebrate the day and even gave you some nice gifts. I remember you saying that he wouldn't do anything for your birthday. The penguin purse sounds cute!

Thanks Maggie.

I must say, I was surprised myself when my husband suggested dinner!
The need for a new keyboard came about when my daughter's cat jumped onto my desk, knocking over an entire can of coca-cola onto my old keyboard. It was VERY nice of my husband to buy me a new one in the same day! (Not at all his normal nature . . .)

Needless to say, there will be no more beverages on my desk as I type.

Pengie, I'm so sorry that you haven't been well.

Your birthday is the same day as somebody else I know. Not much differrence in age in her either. Happy belated birthday.

I hope you do manage to get to church, and enjoy it.

Glad to hear that you've already decided on a name for your new puppy. Thumbelina was one of my favorite 'baby dolls' when I was a child.

Zondie and Leah. Thumbelina was one of my favorite childhood dolls as well. That's why I chose the name. It has such sentimental meaning to me and should grace a tiny long haired white dog quite nicely. I just hope it's not too long for her to learn her name easily.

I've had to replace several keyboards because of spilled beverages. It hasn't stopped me from having drink or food at my computer and when I got my laptop, I got a warranty that would pay for a replacement if I spilled liquid on it. If dh had known he would have rolled his eyes but ds1 understood completely.

I have a new photobucket site with photos of both Little Bit and Oreo. The name of it is Pengiesrule. I may add a photo or two of the family as well.

Hi Pengie . . . can you give a link to that? I'd like to see it.

Yeah, I've had to replace my own share of drowned keyboards . . this one is needing replace, but it's more food crumbs than liquid damage, I'm thinking.

Wanted to give an update on Garrett . . he had the neurosurgeon appt yesterday, and he said everything was fine. He does have a small tumor in his head, but it's in a place that should not cause any problems, and they'll just keep checking to make sure it's not growing. So he'll have another battery of tests next year.

Garrett's such a tough little guy. He's had so much go on in his life and he's so young. I'm glad they're keeping an eye on him.

It worked great! Thank you, Pengie's Daughter . . .

And now I have to say, your dogs are both adorable, and your daughter is beautiful!! Pengie, you have a great looking family -- thanks for sharing that with us.

Yes, Trish, Garrett has gone thru quite a lot, and he certainly is a tough little guy. It amazes me how he's taking to this school . . just being so adventurous -- even brave about it. It doesn't seem to faze him in the least to be riding a big bus with strangers, then going into a classroom of more strangers. Of course, I know Garrett, and I KNOW he's already made good friends with the busdriver -- has to give her a hug when he gets on & off the bus, so I'm sure he's made everyone his friend in the classroom also.

Now he's getting acquainted with the kids who come here after school, and loving ever minute of it. The other day these kids & I sat down at the kitchen table to play some Rummikub. Garrett was understandably upset that he couldn't play with us, so I sat him on my lap to let him play with the extra tiles. After a bit he got down, then a bit later took off for my bedroom. He comes back looking very pleased with himself, stands at the table for a bit & takes off again. He repeated this 5 or 6 times, squealing & clapping for himself each time he came thru the doorway. Suddenly I realized the pile of tiles I'd pushed to the edge of the table for him to play with were nearly all gone! . . . the little stinker had been carrying them off into my bedroom, one at a time -- and SO pleased with himself!

Glen followed him to see where he was putting them, tho I told him not to pick them up . . I knew Garrett would be leaving right away to go with his grandpa, and we'd retrieve the pilfered tiles then . . . . when his grandpa got here, he tried to show him what he'd done -- even offered to give him some tiles . . . he's a cutie, for sure.

Thanks Leah. I happen to think my daughter is beautiful too . She has issues about that and low self-esteem which we are working on in counseling.

I think my dogs are adorable. too.
I realize I may be a bit partial concerning both topics . . . but I love them all with all my heart!

I think Trish's computer is too old to manage things like photos and audio.

Our computer's just having problems with audio and graphics. It needs replacing, but we don't have the finances to do it, so we're just stuck with this until God provides another. It's not your pictures or link, Pengie.

Hi everyone. It's rather quiet in here this week, but it's been a very short week here. I had such a full day yesterday that I've decided I'm taking it a bit easier today.

I went to the gym first thing, then picked up Garrett & we went to Wal-Mart & bought him some new blocks. We played with the blocks for a while, then I got him to pick them up and put them in the toy basket. Then I took up all the rugs, moved the furniture and swept & mopped the floor. It started sprinkling before I got the rugs back inside, so I had to drape them everywhere to let them dry while I was at the OA meeting. I was soaked with sweat by the time I finished -- about 10:00 -- in spite of being in the A/C. I just had time left to feed Garrett and get him ready for the bus. Once he got on the bus, I had to rush to get my shower, then dry & curl my hair & get dressed for the meeting.

My friend who helped start this OA chapter hurt her back over the weekend, so was unable to attend. I had to go by her house (she lives between me & town) to pick up some of the material, then try to get to the church by 12:30. I was about 10 minutes late, but the only other lady to show up, and the one who actually ran the meeting this time, was still in her car talking on the phone, so at least she wasn't waiting for me.

We're hoping this group will grow quickly. Right now there are 6 active members, but 3 of them have not made it since we moved to the new location. It was really unfortunate that my friend hurt her back and is also not able to be there, but the other lady & I had a good talk yesterday anyway . . about attitudes, mainly, tho we went over several of the things in a little pamphlet entitled "Just For Today" they give us to carry in our purse. The group has a very good spiritual base, and I'm enjoying the information I'm garnering from it.

After the meeting, I went by my friend's house again to drop her stuff back off and check on her. She's in a lot of pain . . if you all have time, please pray for Marianna. I barely pulled in the driveway when Garrett's bus pulled in behind me . . . they were about 20 minutes early. The busdriver assured me if she ever got there before me, she'd wait for me, and she has my cell phone number to call also. That should never happen, but it's good to know that just in case.

Eddie came home a few minutes later. I fed him & Garrett cookies & milk, then put Garrett down for a nap while Eddie & I played some Rummikub. When he left at nearly 5:00, I fixed Bill & I some filet mignons for supper -- part of the package of food we got from the Angel Food Ministries -- and a baked potato. Garrett didn't care for that, and he was spending the evening with us, so he had a PB & J again. Then he & I went to church.

One thing about it . . I sure slept well last night

Today, I plan to do some cleaning on my sewing room, then some sewing after he leaves. It's still raining -- has been since some time yesterday, but it's also cool out and I love that. Even opened a few windows this morning and am getting some fresh air in here.

Sorry to hear about Marianna. I hope she's better soon.

Sounds like you and Garrett have had a really good time together? How's he going at 'school'?

Hi Trish! He's doing just great -- absolutely loves it. He does get a bit tired by the third day, and he's not had to go 4 days yet, but I think we can work with that -- make sure he gets a nap or at least some rest before or after school.

Oh yes, he does! And also homework! . . . last week they sent a brown paper bag home with him, with a cute bear's face drawn on the front, and a note attached saying they would be studying the letter "B" this week, so they wanted the kids to find pictures of things that started with a B. I sent that with him to his G'ma & G'pa's so they could help him do that project. I knew they'd enjoy that

That's so sweet!

Well, speaking of sweet, I'd better get out of here and head to bed, otherwise I'm not going to be too sweet when I wake up. I'll talk to you later!
