Hi Linda, my message somehow just "dissapeared" before posting!

Your daughter will be 39? That is my age now!

Glad to hear that you have had good years with your family too!

I am not ready for Christmas at all.

Hi Leah, how are you doing? I'm just trying to catch up on my threads. I haven't been able to catch up on them in ages.

How is the quilt coming along for your dil?

Other than some wrapping, I'm all ready for Christmas.

Hi There, Trish! I'm doing pretty well, especially now since someone has revived my thread . . Thank you!

The quilt is finished and mailed, and I pray they get it in time, but they honestly may not. I didn't get it shipped until Saturday, so we'll see. It did turn out very nice, tho . . much, much better than I'd ever hoped for, considering it was being made of t-shirts with sorority logos on them. I put quilt batting AND a thin blanket inside, so it's also fairly heavy & warm.

I have a few things left to bake -- some more poppy seed bread, and another batch of turtles, then all I will have left to do it the gift wrapping. I do have one gift I'm working on, but it won't be done in time for Christmas, and I've decided that's just the way it will be. It's for a good friend, and I know she'll understand.

Well you've certainly been keeping yourself busy!

I was planning on baking some cakes for the neighbours, but I'm not sure if it's the best time to do it. Can't get the ingredients until tomorrow, (Monday), so I'd be baking Monday afternoon and Tuesday. With it being so close to Christmas, it might not be practical. I'd thought about doing it before, but my body just couldn't have stood the pain of it all. Will have to decide tomorrow whether to do them or not.

Christmas Day here is supposed to be in the 90s. They put the temperature down for a while and I got excited. I should have known that it could get put back up again. Hopefully it won't get too hot.

Hi Trish! Thank you for the gorgeous Christmas card! I got mine out late, but you should be getting it shortly. I appreciate you always being so prompt with yours and remembering me even tho I don't do the card exchange. YOu're such a thoughtful person {{{{{{{{{{{Trish}}}}}}}}}}

Yes, I have been pretty busy. Today I have both boys, the 9 y/o that I keep and Garrett. Eddie, the 9 y/o has been a huge help all morning tho. He wanted to help me sew, but I didn't have anything he could do so he asked if he could vacuum my sewing room . . sure! He did that til the vacuum sweeper stopped (we didn't figure out for a couple of hours that we'd thown a breaker). Then he got out my swiffer and swiffer-swept the living room and kitchen-dining room area -- then wanted to mop --Alright!! So he mopped those rooms also with very little help from me.

After the floors dried, we started another batch of turtles, which are now sitting in my sewing room waiting to be dipped in chocolate. We'll likely do that in a little while. After we had lunch, we figured out that we'd thrown a breaker so I fixed that, then went to lie down with Garrett to get him to sleep and Eddie finished vacuuming -- per his request. What a kid!!

Thanks to that, I am now a bit further along with my Christmas preparations that I'd even hoped to be by today

Sounds like you've got a great little helper there. I wonder if he'd come help at our house. LOL.

Oh, and you're welcome for the card too. The Christmas list wouldn't seem complete without sending you one too.

Awwwww Trish -- thank you so much. I really wish I could be on it but I truly just can't afford it. I sent over 60 cards this year, mostly to family. That's not counting the ones I gave at church. We have our own 'mailbox' there to distribute cards thru.

I'm sure Eddie would love a trip to Aussie, Trish! . . there is a little matter of distance, however -- and money

Darn! Looks like Eddie misses out.

I just tell people that if they can't afford Christmas cards, there's still free ecards. Had a few problems with one of my cards being returned. I knew it wouldn't reach there before Christmas, so I sent an ecard instead. If you can find the free ones, it's good.

Hi Leah. How are you doing today?

Has anybody heard anything from/about Pengie?

Thank you, Mike! And it was a very Merry Christmas!

Hi there, Trish! So sorry I've taken so long to answer -- I've barely been on here long enough to read since Christmas. But, to answer your question, I'm going great!

I've not heard from Pengie . . as far as I know, noone at CW has. She really wasn't doing well the last time or two she posted, and had even said she might disappear from here. I guess we'll just have to be patient a little longer

I have both Eddie & Garrett here today and Eddie's rarin' to get his quilt started, so guess I need to go help with that.

Hi Leah!
It's been such a L-O-N-G time! I hope you had a blessed Christmas and pray that this 'New Year' brings you more blessings than you can contain! I've thought (and prayed) a lot for all of my friends here at CW, since I've been away. I've missed all of you being a part of my day. Hopefully, I can get back in touch more often (now that things are settling down a bit).

My son had a bad UTI during Christmas, my sister ended up in the hospital during the holidays and had to have surgery and the week after Christmas I was the only help my dh had in putting in a new transmission for his work truck. Also worth mentioning...I did all the cooking for the holidays and all the decorating and then un-decorating...by myself! I'm just now starting to feel rested up!

From what I've read here, you've been pretty busy yourself. Thank God, for granting extra strength when needed...huh?!!! I noticed that you haven't posted since last year.( ) Is everything O.K.?

Hi Zondie! Gosh it's so good to hear from you! . . . it sounds like you have sure had your hands full, and that is just what I decided must be going on. Yes, it is good that He gives us extra strength when needed. I hope everyone is better now, and you are able to take SEVERAL deep breaths and relax.

Everything is fine . . just hav neglected my thread and let it nearly die -- thank all of my precious friends for reviving it for me! . . .

I've gotten bombarded with sewing in this last week, so was trying to get some of that caught up before Maggie's arrival Thursday -- yes! Our Maggie is coming to Missouri! . . . . . . She'll be arriving here sometime Thursday and will be staying about a week. Tomorrow I will try to start on my house, tho I still need tow work on one more sewing project before she arrives since we're expecting a record cold front this weekend -- below zero. I'm thinking this guy could use his heavy wool coat for that. Anwyay, regardless, I MUST get things ready for Maggie.

Zondie, I do hope & pray things are easier on you now, and that we will see much more of you in these parts

Hi Leah, everybody.

Zondie, good to hear from you again. Man, you sure have been busy!

Maggie's coming to see you, Leah? How wonderful! Please give each other a hug from me. How long will you be staying, Maggie?

Sounds like you've been busy too, Leah. I hope you can get all that you need to get done finished before Maggie arrives so that you can spend maximum amount of quality time together. I bet there's going to be lots of games of scrabble over the time she's with you too.

I'll be there about a week, Trish. The problem with playing Scrabble in person is that we're used to "cheating" with the online game, trying different combinations of letters for a word until the game accepts one. But thanks for reminding me. I was going to take a game or two--games that Linda won't beat me in.

Thanks, Trish . . we WILL be spending quality time together whether I get finished or not . . . . I'm not a perfectionist, so I will get done what I can get done and we will ignore the rest. and yes, I'm so excited about her coming! Both of us are -- can hardly wait for her to get here

I'm actually getting quite a lot done today, but I got a little way-layed by my indoor plants . . seems I have a bug problem, so had to take an hour or so to deal with that this morning. Now I've done what I can with them today and will have to give it some time and see if it was/is successful. In the meantime, I've torn up the living room and got it nearly back together. Really need to mop the floor, but not sure I have the energy . . guess I'll try -- at least do a spot mop.

Oops! I missed Maggie's post! . . . and Maggie, mind what I tell you -- NO Bible Trivia!! I'd be a fool to play that with you with the slightest HOPE of winning . . . and I ain't no fool!

You gals have already turned over my tickle-box today! It sounds as though "SOMEONE" is as competitive as I am when it comes to games. I don't pout when I lose...but I sure like winning!!! We played Scrabble just last night and used my dil's new 'Scrabble players dictionary' she got for Christmas. Ds won, but I'm catching on real quick on how to use that new electronic dictionary. Since he knows I usually win, he teased me by saying he now 'owns' Scrabble! Guess I'll challenge him again tonight while waiting for dh to come home from work.

Good to hear from both Trish and Maggie! Hi, ladies! Oh WOW, Maggie! You're getting to go visit with Leah! I'm excited for you both! Hope you girls have lots of fun and make memories together. Try to check in with us (at least once) while you're visiting and let us know how it's going O.K.?

We're expecting record low temps here too, Leah. Guess I'll just try my best to stay in and catch up on some reading. (BTW: Congratulations on getting your book published Maggie!!!) And Leah, slow down on all the cleaning. Maggie's not coming to judge your house-keeping capabilities... she's coming to stomp your butt in board and card games!!!
So brush up on your brain power and save your energy!!!

Just joshing you girls. I really, really hope you two have the most enjoyable time together! You're so blessed to get this opportunity!!!

That's exactly it!

The expected low tonight is -52F with the windchill (or thereabouts). It will be nice to go south to experience the record lows there instead of here.

Since there's nothing in the Bible that's trivia, you don't have to worry, Linda. I'll bring my Bible games and geographic games. Hmmm. I'm sure I have a math game somewhere.

Zondie, you're too funny!

Yes, I know she's coming with the full intention of stomping my butt (tho she won't do that without a fight) however, if I don't do some cleaning before she gets here, we'll be playing those games in the floor -- then she'll be too stiff to stomp my butt!

And Maggie, you are being really truly ornery . . . you KNOW I am terrible with geography! . . . good grief, I can hardly leave my county without getting lost! But I can put up a good fight in either the Bible or math. However, there are LOTS of questions (tho as you said nothing is trivial) which are still obscure enough to trip the best of us, and surely can stump me easily. So I may just refuse to play that one with you . . . . besides, I have several games I'm gonna teach you, and we'll just see how you do with those! . . . . .

I'm right there with you on the geography, Leah. My most hated classes in school were History, Geography and Science. No farther than I get to travel now though, it would be useless to me anyway. I finally did learn how to tell which direction I'm going in though. Go ahead and laugh (if you wish), but I use to get confused with whether I was going North or South. I could determine East and West pretty easily. But North and South always confused me! Guess it's all these mountains that engulfs me!!!
