Hey everybody.

I hope Garrett's better soon.

We tell people to make themselves at home at our place too. Breakfast isn't such a big deal. I'm usually up when John is, so if I am, we have breakfast together. As far as meals go though, we tend to have lunch and dinner at the dinner table. When it's just us, the news is going on in the background. We don't have TV on when we have company.

They were forecasting a lot of snow for Kansas City but so far it hasn't arrived--the highway outside my window is very busy with morning traffic. It's possible, however, that it's still coming and that I could be stuck here a bit longer than planned.

Thanks, Trish . . it seems to be just a little cold, so hopefully he's better today. He hasn't made it here yet, and Eddie's mom called to say she was not going in . . seems she had to get out at 2:30 this morning to take her husband to work in town -- he works for the city. She had so much trouble on the road that she decided she wasn't going in to work. I think we had 2 inches of sleet in town, tho only about an inch here. Bill said they had much more than we did when he came home -- and that's only a mile away. All the surrounding schools are closed.

Maggie, hope you are able to keep with your plans. If it's just snow, the roads may be ok. Ice is a whole different story, tho.

Oh! Bill just called in and he doesn't have to go in today! Guess we get to spend the day together . . shall I sew, or shall I not -- THAT is the question

My dad had an bad infection and they went ahead with cancer treatment today. He didn't react well and has been hospitalized. He is having trouble breathing. Dad is 87, has emphysema, and non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

Mom has been given a deadline of the first of February to clear her store of merchandise so her renter can move in. I do have 3 sisters, two in Florida and one in Texas who do not work outside the home. The one in Texas is planning on visiting in February. I am hoping she can go ahead and go now to help mom and dad.

Mom and dad live in Mississippi and there are no family that live there except an aunt (wife of my dead uncle) so mom and dad are by themselves. Mom is a strong woman but she is handling things pretty much on her own. I've asked if she wants me to come down but she keeps saying not yet. She wants me later to help out when things perhaps get worse.

Please pray for my parents. Thank you.

Ginny

Yes, both are Christians. I wasn't sure of dad until his visit in December. They came to church with me and my church has communion every Sunday. Dad took communion.

Later we had a conversation and dad said he was baptized as a teen. During my growing up years he quit going to church and I never heard my parents talk about the Lord or the Bible. It just wasn't discussed.

Mom started back to church when I was a late teen at my church and was baptized there. She started reading the bible or at least a devotional bible and has grown in the Lord. Dad didn't go back to church until his retirement when they retired to the state and home he grew up in and he went back to his childhood church. His behavior has changed since then but I wasn't for sure where he stood until like I said this December.

Mom ended my conversation with her with, "There is someone who knows what is going on and we can trust in Him." Meaning the Lord. The last time I talked to her she said, "The good Lord will take care of us." She is showing she has a strong faith.

Mom is holding up well. It's me who is moody and crying and also praying but I feel weak and need the praying because I do feel so. I'm not ready to lose my dad.

{{{{{{{{{GINNY}}}}}}}}}}} . . . I'll be praying for your parents -- and for you. I do hope you're feeling better.

Garrett never made it out yesterday, but he did today. He's still got a cold -- pretty bad, in fact, and I've hardly been able to get him to eat a thing . . had to fight with him about every bite. I wish he'd eat better. He carries no extra weight and dehydrates so easily when he gets sick. They said he's really never had just a common cold. I've been giving him cough medicine -- wondering now if his throat is sore, and that's why he's not eating . . . that woudl make me feel really bad if I knew that is what was wrong

I just went out and gave the birds and squirrels some more food -- apples w/ peanut butter for the birds, and some leftover nuts from Christmas for the squirrels. We'll see which eats which . . . This morning I went out before 7:00 and swept a path to the bird feeder so I could brush off the snow, clearing the way for them to get to the food. They were SO appreciative! Even had a rufous-sided towhee come to thank me . . they hardly ever show up here! In fact, the first one I remember ever seeing was last summer . . was so happy to see that one this morning. Later there were blue jays, lots of cardinals, nut hatches, juncos, woodpeckers, purple finches, American goldfinches, and lots & lots of sparrows! They DO love those feeders! And I love to watch them eat

Maggie enjoyed seeing the cardinals when she was here. THere's even more out there now, and they do look so amazingly red against that white snow! -- wish she could have seen that. She must be getting close to half way home, I would think. I hope she doesn't get too tired driving.

Yes indeed, we will be praying Ginny! My what a load you are having to carry right now! (With the court thing and all). I'll be praying for you along with your mom and dad, you have to be so stressed out right now!

Leah, they're predicting another blast of the winter stuff here too! On top of the ice they say we could get from 2 to 5 inches of snow by the a.m.!

Gotta run...Dil just called from the doctor's office and they're sending her for tests at the hospital. They think she may have a blood clot! Please keep her in your prayers.

Linda, can you get him to keep fluids down? That would at least help with the dehydration thing. Or some rehydration fluids? Maybe some yoghurt or something soft on his throat in case it is sore.

Thanks, Trish. Garrett has been so much better today. Has eaten everything I've offered, and drank plent of liquids. I have a feeling it was something else entirely going on with him yesterday.

I've only had him afterall. Eddie didn't come.

I was supposed to go to the granddaughters' gym meet in the morning, but it looks like I'll have Garrett instead. I'm paid for Friday's, but usually don't have him on Friday. Guess this will be an acception. I don't mind really, cuz it was looking more & more like I would be driving to the city in the dark, and I really don't handle that well anymore -- just can't take all the bright lights in my eyes, and finally will feel disoriented, and very nervous making it a harrowing trip for me. Melissa & her family all understand, so it's ok. I've already gone to to meets, and will go to 2 more in March, plus their state meet in April.

I'm so glad that Garrett's better.

Probably better that Eddie didn't come that day, just so that he didn't catch anything that Garrett might have had.

Hope you had a great day, Linda.

Thanks to all who remembered my DIL (Sandy) in prayer! The ultra sound showed that she has multiple blood clots from her neck all the way down her right arm. The doctor told her that the oldest one could have been there for a year and the newest one (in her neck) could possibly be a week old. Anyway, she has to go back Wednesday for the results of all the tests. They'll tell her then if she has to be put on shots or pills for a blood thinner. They're trying to find out what is causing them. Meanwhile, she's taking an aspirin every day and keeping her arm elevated and using a heating pad. Needless to say, DS is worried sick about her.

DH stayed home from work with a strained back muscle. So...as of right now, I have all 3 down to take care of. Yep, I'm praying for extra strength and thank God, He's providing it!!! He's so amazing to me!!!

Wow! Poor Sandy! Not that I've had any, but I've heard blood clots can be nasty. Just as well she's getting treatment now.

Oh my, Zondie! I'm so sorry to hear all this . . will be praying for Sandy, your DH and you . . . I can't imagine caring for 3 sick adults at once

{{{{{{{{{{ZONDIE}}}}}}}}}}}

It seems Garrett shared his cold with me. I've been snowed in all week, not that I really wanted to go anywhere, but now Bill is really wanting to take me out for supper and I feel lousy. He gave me a choice of breakfast or supper, and I chose supper cuz I didn't feel like getting read to go anywhere this morning. So he fixed breakfast for me. I'm still not feeling good enough to go anywhere

Yeah, Trish, I do believe I'll keep him around a few more years . . . it's be 40 years this May! That surely doesn't seem possible.

We went to a local diner for a mid-afternoon meal where they make everything from scratch, charge really low prices, and one can seldom eat all they serve. I wish I'd taken Maggie there last week, but I plum forgot . . . anyway, she didn't have her homemade soup ready yet, but she did have some delicious chili served with cheese and onions. Then I also ordered one of her bacon-cheeseburgers . . these things are HUGE! And whatever made me think I could eat one when I wasn't even feeling good, Ihave no idea . . . . well, I brought the cheeseburger home with me, and Bill & I shared it for supper. Now we're having popcorn

WOW Linda, sounds tasty! I should be on the look out for more "cheap places" to eat around my area as well.

I'll second that.

Hey, Linda perhaps this isn't the place but how would you feel about me buying the fixins for another steak dinner at your place and see if Bill would agree to fix them? I would love to get together with you and Bill with my husband and myself and afterwards play some hands of Rummikub. That is if I can get my husband off the couch and Bill is willing.

Mike, I agree. Do find some more cheap places to eat and also do some exploring to see where they are. It would be a fun adventure and you could tell us about them.

Ginny

Sorry to hear that you're not feeling well, Linda. Thanks for remembering my dil in your prayers. I'll be praying for you and Garrett too.

Sounds like you're getting a little deserved pampering from that "Keeper" of a man of yours! Good for you! Our marriage has been a good'n for almost 34 years now, (August). I'm thrilled to know that it can be just as good or (who knows) even better by the time we reach our 40th! You & Bill are a good example of that!
