Maggie ------------> . . . . Ginny asked what I did 'today', and she asked that Saturday evening, so I told her, starting with confirming that yes, I was off the computer earlier than usual. Sheesh! And you were up late last night/early this morning! Which means you'll likely sleep all day, so this will be old news when you get it . . . I do hope DS1 made it through ok, and you both finally got in bed & got some rest.

My friend & I are going back to The Centre to swim today after I put Garrett on the bus. I do think it is helping me to loosen up a bit. Now if I can just keep my body erect when it's supposed to be erect

I missed you tonight though. Meant to talk to you some before taking care of J (granddson) some more but didn't get a chance to.

I read J a book told him never again that particular book. It was a long book about many different dinosaurs and I struggled to say the names of these dinosaurs. Always have had trouble with their names, saying them out loud. J loves dinosaurs. Then I read him some from the bible. Cute little tyke he thanked me for reading to him from the bible.

So how was your day today? How was St. Louis? Garrett's eye appointment?

Why the gloves, Trish?

My hand OT has given me pressure gloves to try and get the swelling down in my hands. They've been swollen for months now.

Linda, I sure hope Melissa feels better soon. Please keep me posted about how she is doing.

Hi there Trish & Ginny !

I asked for prayer for Melissa in the daily chat thread, Trish. She has walking pneumonia, but after I posted the prayer request, I rec'd an email from her saying she's been sick for 3 weeks, first with strep, which went into a sinus condtion which immediately went to her lungs. This is very similar to the conditions a man described to us when he was diagnosed with swine flu, so 'Mom' emailed her back telling her , and asking her some pertinent questions . . like, has she actually seen a doctor, does she have scripts, is she getting plenty of rest, fluids, etc., and lastly why didn't she let me know so I could at least be praying. I'm waiting to hear back from her this morning. Never mind that Melissa is a doctor herself, she sometimes does not take good care of herself, and balks at seeing HER doctor when she needs to . . . .I'll keep you posted.

It is a rainy, dreary day here. We've had so much rain this week even some parts of the interstate are standing in water causing cars to hydroplane. Our county road crew came out and cleaned out the culverts to keep them from backing up and flooding the gravel road, thus washing it away. In spite of all the rain, tho, I'm headed to the gym in a while. The swimming is doing both of us some good, so hoping to continue that as long as we can.

Thanks, Ginny, Trish & Mike. I talked to Melissa on Friday and she was sounding a bit better -- at least she could talk for a bit without coughing. She had seen a doctor when she first got sick with the strep throat; she hasn't seen one since. She said it may have been swine flu, she wasn't sure. I was just glad to hear her say she was feeling better.

We had a big day yesterday . . went to an annual event at a local park called Old Ironworks Day. They had lots old crafts going on . . making sorghum, apple butter, churning butter with a dog working the churn, wood-carving, glass blowing, blacksmith, needlepoint, quilting . . . and more! It was fun and interesting to watch. We met a friend of Bill's from work, and his family. We bought some kettle corn and pork rinds, hot off the fire, and so tasty! I also got a Christmas gift -- got 2 bought so far this year. After we left there we went to eat then came home. We enjoyed the day, but we were on our feet, walking on pavement or concrete most of the 4 hours we spent there, so I came back tired & hurting. I took some ibuprofen and rested for the remainder of the evening. I slept well, tho, and feel fine this morning.

Guess I better get myself ready for church now.

I hope Melissa is much better soon.

Doctors can be the worst as being patients! I know the doctor I had before the one I currently have was like that. She was a Christian, went to my church and was actually the one who diagnosed me with ovarian cysts. Unfortunately, not long after I was diagnosed, she started having problems and didn't see a doctor about it. (Her husband, son and daughter are all doctors). She waited until it was too late and was diagnosed with ovarian cysts too. A few years later, she passed away from it. She knew that she'd waited too long before telling her family or going to see a doctor.

Old Ironworks Day sounds like a lot of fun! I've never made apple butter or churned butter. The crafts side of things would have interested me though. I haven't been to a craft fair in probably 2 years or so. Joan and I used to regularly go. I used to get some of my Christmas gifts from the craft shows. Sometimes I have problems reading and have to reread things over and over again. It's much easier than me trying to make gifts. I miss making gifts, but when you can't concentrate properly to do it, there's not much you can do about it.

Trish, I thought of you and Maggie while there . . . they had a sheep-shearing booth . . the wool they'd sheared was being spun, dyed, then crocheted or knitted into beautifully soft shawls, scarves, hats . . . but oh my goodness, the price!!!! Quickly made me very thankful for our 'cheaper' materials these days, plus the easy with which we can turn out a hat or scarf. Whew! A scarf looking very similar to what you make was $50 !!!

But, you would have loved seeing all the crafts, Trish. It was a wonderful demonstration of a way of life left far behind . . most of the skills/crafts depict life in the 1800s.

I am needing a nap . .

Hope your day is good today Leah.

Now I wish I'd gone to to Old Ironworks Day. I like crafts and seeing things being made. Must make sure I go next year.

I know how to spin yard. I learned several years ago. I love it! The wheels aren't exactly cheap though, and really, I've got enough stuff to do than to take up another hobby. Especially an expensive one. I've got so much craft stuff around now that I'm not using. As much as I'd love to be cross stitching and the like, I just don't have the concentration span for it. I doubt my hands would stand up to more crafts right now.

A scarf like mine costing $50?! That's just insane! Where did they get the yarn. Pluto?! We pay a lot more for things over here than you do, and materials wouldn't cost that much. I know you never get your money back in time, but that's just too rich! I wouldn't touch that one with a ten foot barge pole! So much easier and cheaper to make your own.

Trish, that scarf was made of the wool sheared from the sheep and hand spun by the owners of the booth.

I've been awake since 2:30 . . . this is silly! Just when I needed to sleep cuz Garrett is coming early this morning

I guess being homespun and all, I can understand a little bit better about the price, but I still think it's ridiculous to spend that amount on a scarf. Maybe I'm just a cheapskate.

If you are Trish then so am I. I would never spend that much money on a scarf.

Leah I stayed up all night last night, came by the library at 9:15 to get on a computer and will go grocery shopping after this.

Kristy doesn't go to work until this weekend so I don't have access to her computer.

Wow, Ginny, why did you stay up all night?? Were you working, reading?? In fact, HOW did you stay up all night -- I had such a hard time with that when I was working -- it was awful.

No, I wouldn't pay that for a scarf either. Altho, if I lived in frigid weather, and these items were known to be much warmer than acrylic like they ones we make & buy here, I guess I would be tempted.

It was easy. I slept all day yesterday so I wasn't tired last night. Have my days and nights mixed up.

I read. Should have been cleaning but I read. Was reading a book about King Hezekiah and his rule and a lady named Jerusha who was captured by Assirians.

I know for a while there I used to not be able to get to sleep before 4am, but thankfully, it's been years since I've pulled an all-nighter. Intentionally or otherwise. My body won't let me these days, for which I'm grateful. Getting good sleep is one way to help rid yourself of fibromyalgia.

Ironically, the night I wrote this, I didn't get to sleep until after 6.30am.

Hi Linda. Hi everybody.

Hi there, Mike & Trish! Boy, I am sure glad you guys revive this thread for me!!

Trish, we had a nice quiet weekend. I got some sewing done Saturday .. alterations on a jacket that took me quite a while. I'm glad to get it done, tho. Sunday was church, a long nap in the afternoon, then woke just in time for choir practice & evening services.

Yes, Garrett can be quite the little stinker . . . he's all the time trying to trick me into getting up from my desk chair so he can swipe it . . I've gotten wise to him, tho, and don't fall for it quite so often

How are you doing?? . . . and how about you, Mike? We spoke briefly last night, but you didn't go into any detail.

Good Morning Linda, I do not remember what we talked about at all. I think that it may have been about Maggie's son. Anyway, I am doing so-so, got some stuff with me going on. I just need to deal with it somehow.

How have you been? I hope that things are going well with you.
