Hey Pammy & Brian! . . .

Oh yeah, Brian, there's more to come [:D]

Smiley777 -> RE: Leah's Stories (6/8/2005 6:40:27 AM)

How are you doing?? You have very "interesting" siblings! You could keep me laughing for the rest of the week! [;)][:D]

leah777 -> RE: Leah's Stories (6/8/2005 6:54:44 AM)

I'm doing great, Pammy . . . . I hope to keep you laughing for even longer than that [:D]

About that living room floor (the kitchen was the same, btw) . . one of my sisters always had a knack for saying really funny things without meaning to. When she was about 17, she flew out to California to spend some time with an Aunt & Uncle. Never having been on an airplane before, she was very fascinated with everything, and as they became airborne, she looked down at the ground and exclaimed very loudly, "Oh look! That looks just like Mom's living room floor!!" All the passengers had a good laugh over that, and asked her to explain just what the living room floor looked like [:D]

ROFLOL!!!! Now that's bad! [sm=silly.gif][sm=Llol.gif]

leah777 -> RE: Leah's Stories (6/8/2005 8:08:07 AM)

Hey DeeDee! -- thanks for visiting my thread [:)]

Yeah, our family reunions include over 100 of the immediate family, and not all of them come. We're having a family reunion in just a week & a half [:)]

That was pretty bad, Pammy, but I went up in my first airplane just 6 years ago and I could see just what she meant . . . especially around here where there are so many farmlands with pastures, etc. laid out in such neat squares, it really did look like Mom's living room floor. We had more fun with that tile though. It was a never-ending game . . . one time we'd go through trying just to step on the speckled tiles, the next time we'd do only solids, then we'd try for stripes or for a certain color --- it kept us entertained!! And I found myself doing that years later as I'd walk through that living room -- only wanting to step on a certain pattern or a certain color . . . strangers mighta thought we were a little tipsy [sm=halo.gif]

Hey Pammy! . . I'm doin' fine on this fine Thursday -- specially since the workday is over and I'm about ready to eat supper with dh and relax at the TV for while [:D] . . . . sorry I was so late getting back to you [sm=icon_smile_blush.gif]

leah777 -> RE: Leah's Stories (6/9/2005 6:49:23 PM)

Ok, it's time for the Lizard in the Outhouse Story [sm=redhairsmile.gif]

My dad's favorite pasttime was fishing. Each summer we would live for the weekends when Daddy would be home and we would get to go to the river. We had our favorite swimming holes -- which just happened to be good fishing holes, too [:D] . . . . sometimes we'd go for just the day, sometimes we'd pack up and spend the whole weekend.

This particular Saturday morning we'd gotten the car packed -- even packing for a day for that many kids took some doing [sm=frog.gif] . . . so Mom & Daddy had sent us to the car while they were grabbing the last minute things out of the house.

As one of the smaller ones, (I was about 5 at the time, I think) I'd be sitting on someone's lap for the ride over there. We'd just gotten all settled in the car, waiting on Mom & Daddy to get out there, and I had to go to the bathroom, aka outhouse [sm=tongue.gif] . . . . so I jumped out of the car and took off down the hill. I was about 5 at that time. Anyway, as I opened the door of the outhouse I saw a lizard crawling on the wall.

Now I really hated lizards and the like, and would not have ordinarily gone in there alone for anything after seeing one on the wall, but I REALLY had to go! . . . . so, I sat down on the potty ---- and prompty froze. Fear of that silly lizard overtook me big time -- And I started screaming!!

Now, remember, I'd left all my brothers & sisters in the car waiting on Mom & Daddy. And they were headed to the river. There had to have been at least 8 or 10 of them in that car! Do you have any idea how much noise that many kids can create while anticipating a swimming trip???? In between my screams I heard the car doors closing, and was aware that Mom & Daddy had joined them in the car; and then I heard the car start. Now a greater fear took over -- the fear of being left behind!!! But try as I might, I could not get myself off that toilet! Then I heard the car start . . . they really were going to leave me!!! [sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif] [sm=crystreams.gif] . . . By this time I was crying so hard I could hardly get my breath to scream [sm=icon_smile_cry.gif]

Well, thank goodness, my brother, J, finally remembered that I had gone to the outhouse (plus Mom likely took a headcount [;)] ) and came running down to rescue me. He scolded me a little, as he was making me presentable and drying my tears, all the time assuring me the lizard had been plumb scared into the next county by my screams, which he'd heard clearly after he got away from the chattering kids in the car.

I spent most of the way to the river sniffling and snuffling, and accusing everyone of almost forgetting me --- and being consoled & reassured by all of them [sm=angelhalo.gif] . . .

Poor Mom! She must have had plenty of close calls like that, though she never actually forgot & left one of her kids behind [sm=icon_smile.gif]

I think this incident might have contributed to my worm/snake/lizard (basically anything that's squirmy) phobia, although I still say my older brothers probably had something to do with it [sm=tonguehappy.gif]

rachay2 -> RE: Leah's Stories (6/9/2005 8:45:21 PM)

That is funny Leah. It reminds me of the time that I was at my aunts house and had to go the bathroom except noone bothered to tell me their dog was in there. The mongrel must have woke up as soon as I locked the door. All I could do was jump on the toilet and start screaming for help. They couldn't get me out cause I locked the door and the whole time they are laughing. Granted it was just a puppy, but it was nipping at my toes and it sounded ferocious.[:o] I don't even remember how they got me out, but I never did like that mutt. [:o]

leah777 -> RE: Leah's Stories (6/9/2005 8:54:14 PM)

LOL Rachael!! . . . nothing like being surprised by a yappin' mutt! [:D]

leah777 -> RE: Leah's Stories (6/10/2005 6:52:41 AM)

Oh, he was just a reg'lar size, I guess . . wouldn't have mattered about the size -- he wiggled. That was the only thing that counted [sm=icon_smile_blush.gif]

Smiley777 -> RE: Leah's Stories (6/10/2005 8:05:04 AM)

stamper_ben -> RE: Leah's Stories (6/10/2005 9:31:20 AM)

I've been here all along...

Of course that lizard can't hear. Not after you screamed at it! Blew it's poor eardrums out...

dance4joy -> RE: Leah's Stories (6/10/2005 10:00:20 AM)

Awwwww. . .poor Leah! I can just picture her as terrified 5-year old convinced that not only is she going to be attacked by an icky creepy crawly lizzard. . .but her family is going to drive off and LEAVE her there in the outhouse.
