Congrats and my kudos to everyone trying to give up the tobacco habit.

I work in the federal government (USA) and got this blanket email yesterday on a new policy for smokers:

New GSA Smoking Regulation Effective June 19, 2009

The General Services Administration (GSA) published a final regulation that establishes a smoke-free environment for Federal employees and members of the public visiting or using Federal facilities. Effective June 19, 2009, all designated interior smoking areas will be closed and smoking prohibited in courtyards and within twenty-five (25) feet of doorways and air intake ducts in outdoor spaces under the jurisdiction of the Federal Government.

The GSA regulation is Title 41, Code of Federal Regulation (CFR) 102-74, "Federal Management Regulation; FMR Case 2008-102-3, Real Property Policies Update - Smoking Restrictions" dated December 19, 2008. The regulation restricts smoking in interior spaces owned, rented, or leased by the executive branch of the Federal Government. The GSA bulletin announcing the regulation can be accessed at https://pcmm.gov/FMRBulletin2009-1onSmoking.pdf

Good! The fewer places that I'm allowed to smoke mean the fewer places I will smoke which means the less I will smoke.

Hey guys, I have just been reminded by a loving poster that I haven't posted here in a while. Here is the reason why. As some of you may know my dad passed away in April and Father's Day was a little tough. I'll get back to posting here in a couple of days.

I will not be posting as much as usual.
My dad is in ICU because the hospital
found air in his stomach. He had surgery
which was very risky for a man who
is 86 years old. Right now the hospital
have requested no visitors and they
have put him in a sleep mode because
he is in a lot of pain. Sad. Yes! We would
appreciate your prayers at this time.

The Good NEWS is my dad accepted the
Lord as his Savior. One of my sisters heard
what the doctor told my dad in the ER. you
could die without surgery and the operation
is very risky. My sister asked my dad if he
would like to ask the Lord to forgive him of his
sins. He answered yes, and he understood what
my sister was talking about too. He has been
asked many times to make this decison. Finally he
said yes!! PTL!!

I am not expecting a reply because I do not want
to derail this thread. Praying for you all!

Just hang on a bit longer and the cravings will go away. I know you can hold on for another 10 minutes!

I know they seem to go on forever, but they usually last 3 or 4 minutes tops. And as each pass, they will lose strength and duration.

Lord, give catlady11 and EXTRA big dose of Your grace right now and fill her with your enormous LOVE for her!

Thanks Euty. I keep telling myself that even if I have a smoke - the emotions and problems will still be there. It won't change anything. I have an easier time dealing with physical cravings - they do pass. But when it is emotional I have a much harder time. Thanks for the prayers!

catlady= 3 weeks at as a quicksticker is a great success story!

Yes, we will be praying for you! We are so proud of you!

Thanks for your prayers for my dad. He has been taken out of ICU. He is still in serious condition and we are thanking
the Lord that he lived through the surgery and he has
lived a week after this risky operation! PTL! Thanks for your
concern.

God is our strength and we all can lean on Him for help
in the time of needs!!

LOL...I'm old school quitter, so I assume you're talking about the newbies.

Let me check...

I'm at 2 years, 8 weeks, 13 hours, 59 minutes, 36 seconds since my last cigarette/nicotine.
I've not smoked 15,691 cigarettes. I've saved $3,922.75.
