Super news! Bubble5!

manda59 -> RE: Quitting smoking support thread (10/25/2009 6:04:10 PM)

So, how was everyone's weekend?[:)]

PinkCarnations -> Quitting smoking support thread (10/25/2009 7:29:00 PM)

It was a good weekend.

Eutychus -> RE: Quitting smoking support thread (10/26/2009 10:07:48 AM)

My weekend wasn't particulary great. I had some minor health issues, acouple of episodes with annoying neighbors, and to top it off, my favorite college football team was clobbered 31-10. Still, none of it would have improved even a tiny bit by nicotine.

Day 1,153 nicotine-FREE

Eutychus -> RE: Quitting smoking support thread (10/28/2009 11:34:47 AM)

I'm enjoying day 1,155 of being FREE of nicotine's dominion. I've also saved over $4,000 on tobacco and all the nasty chemicals that come with it.

Nicotine doesn't make any circumstance better, it only feeds the shackles of our addiction. It doesn't relieve stress, it only relieves the demands of the nicotine slave master.

bettymackII -> RE: Quitting smoking support thread (11/1/2009 9:43:31 AM)

Good News! Good News!

A brand new month!

A time to start afresh!
A time to stay on track!

God is our Strength!
Keep our eyes on Him!
Remember Peter?
Things were going great when he was in the water because
his focus was on the Lord not his situation!

Eutychus -> RE: Quitting smoking support thread (11/2/2009 8:54:48 AM)

Inch by inch, anything's a cinch with Jesus in control.

Day 1,257 tobacco-FREE, Day 1,160 nicotine-FREE

Eutychus -> RE: Quitting smoking support thread (11/6/2009 10:48:28 AM)

I just calculated that I've saved $4,413.50 on tobacco. But more importantly, I can drive to the restuarant after work to meet my wonderful wife, share a meal, take our time talking over an after-dinner coffee, drive home, and enjoy the evening without being nagged by the nicotine slave master to get a fix.

The freedom that I now enjoy didn't come easy but it was certainly worth fighting to gain. And no matter how difficult one of the early days was, I never woke up a single morning wishing that I had caved the day before.

PinkCarnations -> Quitting smoking support thread (11/6/2009 3:22:40 PM)

I caved. I've caved on a lot of things lately.

manda59 -> RE: Quitting smoking support thread (11/6/2009 4:45:13 PM)

So, tomorrow is another day. The Lord's mercies are new every morning. Get back on that horse and try again. [:)]

Eutychus -> RE: Quitting smoking support thread (11/6/2009 4:55:02 PM)

I agree with Manda. You made a mistake but don't compound it by being stupid. I once quit for a full year and, in a moment of anger, caved. I was hooked for another 30 years before quitting again. 30 more years of slavery... Don't be stupid like me.

You cannot promise to quit last week and you cannot promise to quit next month or even tomorrow. All you have is today. Do it now!

This is a strong addiction and everyone who ever quit understands that. The only way you can be a failure is if you give up. That is the one characteristic disliked the most by fellow quitters. Not slipping up and trying again, but giving up to something you can beat - one crave, one hour, one day at a time.

Like Manda said, get back on that horse and ride your way toward freedom.

PinkCarnations -> Quitting smoking support thread (11/6/2009 5:18:43 PM)

Thank you Manda and Euty for the encouragement.

bettymackII -> RE: Quitting smoking support thread (11/6/2009 9:01:53 PM)

Thanks Manda and Euty for your words of encouragements for Pink Carnations!

Pink Carnations, in due time you will be a full-fledged successful quitter too!

Silverstring -> RE: Quitting smoking support thread (11/9/2009 6:05:25 PM)

All you need is ONE successful attempt. You will NOT regret it looking back.

manda59 -> RE: Quitting smoking support thread (11/9/2009 6:32:43 PM)

Bubbles, are you around? How are you doing?

manda59 -> RE: Quitting smoking support thread (11/10/2009 6:54:38 PM)

Found out an interesting fact the other day - that aubergines (egg plants, as you call em) contain nicotine! [:D]

(But that you'd have to eat 20lbs of them to get the nicotine provided by one cigarette!)

Food for thought though! [8D][;)]

stellaluna -> RE: Quitting smoking support thread (11/10/2009 7:13:08 PM)

I believe it was CSI that had the episode where the guy died from a nicotine overdose--well, someone murdered him with nicotine. I love eggplant. [:D]

I've been told that nicotine is also found in tomatoes and hot peppers, but also in minute quantities.

Don't you even like moussaka, Roberta?

I have no idea what that is.

manda59 -> RE: Quitting smoking support thread (11/11/2009 12:06:26 PM)

It's a Greek dish made with lamb mince (kind of like Greek shepherd's pie, only with aubergines): Moussaka

rachay2 -> RE: Quitting smoking support thread (11/11/2009 5:23:38 PM)

Not surprised at all that the quitting smoking thread has started talking about food now.[:D]

Barb, I hope you are having much success! As for me well...[8|]

I love lamb, but that looks disgusting.

Happy Friday the 13th! It's a wonderful day to be nicotine-FREE.
