Sounds like you lost one of the phases coming in.

I have no idea what that means.

When power is produced by a generating facility, it is produced in 3-phase form...(wires) X,Y and Z at very high voltages. As it is transformed down to a working voltage to feed homes, two of the phases are chosen to supply power to the mains in the house's circuit breaker or fuse box. One neighborhood might get X and Y, another Y and Z, and another X and Z to equalize the load.

Large loads in the house (usually hot water heaters, air conditioners and electric stoves) run off of the two mains (the two wires coming in from the pole) at ~220 volts-ac.

Any single-phase loads (most lighting and small appliances etc.) run off of one of the mains and the ground connection at ~110 volts-ac. Half of the single-phase loads will be from one of the mains, and the rest from the other main.

So if there's a problem with one of the mains, then all of the large loads in the house will be affected. Also about half of the other smaller loads in the house will be affected. The other half of the smaller loads will remain powered up from the one good main.

Yes I do. But with the age of children that I work with (ages 2-5) they will get bored halfway though the answer and go running of to do something else. Or they will have no idea what I am saying.

I know I can have the cottage cheese. And I do love buttermilk...not sure about the carb count though. Regular milk has a lot.

Buttermilk is made out of skim milk Ray. I take it that low carb for you also means low sugar? My problem is that I love pasta and tomato-based dishes. I will either have to keep eating those but in much smaller amounts or make other foods that lower in carb and sugar and eat more of it. lol

Hi Sarah!

i used to use spaghetti squash when i did low-carb. when cooked it has the shape & consistency of spaghetti noodles and is a good substitute. one may want to use a meat sauce to make it more filling.

Yup I've tried that before. Even if John doesn't like it I will try it again. Thanks Ed!

I'm also thinking of looking up low glycemic foods and incorporate them into my diet. The reason being is that those types of food keep you feeling fuller longer.

yeah i was skeptical at first but i do like spaghetti so much lol :) in regards to you saying "I will either have to keep eating those but in much smaller amounts or make other foods that lower in carb and sugar and eat more of it." ... it's been a few years since i've read any atkins, but i believe option two is the way to go ... you want to reduce your bodies craving for the sugar and eating it limited quantity, won't do that as much ...
